Speaking with his campaign manager, I learned that Rick is extremely similar to Ron Paul in his views, and even spoke with Dr. Paul on the phone recently. Living in CT, he is also a big fan of Peter Schiff. He has a strong chance of winning - he has raised good money so far with much more on the way. Check out this recent interview:

I would like to hear more from him on certain issues before getting fully behind him, but what I hear has been good.

I am also a Senior Advisor to the Torres campaign. So if you have any questions about his campaign, feel free to email me at brian (at) ricktorres2010.com. Also, today Rick taped Freedom Watch with the Judge, so be sure to check him out on the show tomorrow!

While I consider Torres in the "top tier" of his field, lets give full respect to the fact that Torres has a VERY competitive primary field. He is one of five, and two of them are state senators (one is sitting, the other not so much).

Rick is actually one of six now. Two weeks ago, the First Selectman of Easton Tom Herrmann entered the race. He is a self-funder and an ultra RINO. On the day he announced, a Republican activist in Easton called Rick and said - "The only reason we would want him to go to DC is to get him out of Easton for a while."

In regards to the other candidates, the Former State Senator Rob Russo is running a halpess campaign. He is a hack to Fmr Congressman Chris Shays and last quarter, he ended with about 1K on hand. He hasn't been able to raise any money, I think he raised $40K last quarter.

Dan Debicella is the current "frontrunner" (based solely on fundraising) is only a one term State Senator. I think Rick can win this primary. We have been receiving very good support on the ground here in Connecticut. We've been raising money and I can assure you that things are going to start picking up and we will be making some serious movement in the Republican primary.
