I read this article (http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/10/04/campaign.cash/index.html) and started crunching numbers. Could it be that Ron Paul had more donors than any other Republican candidate? If so, why isn't everyone talking about this? Here is what I mean:
Thompson raised $9.3 million from 80,000 supporters during the third quarter
of Romney's $62.4 million total, more than $17 million of that money came from the candidate's loans to his campaign.
More than 100,000 donors have contributed to Romney this year
Thompson:
9.3mil / 80K = an average contribution of $116.25 per person for the 3rd quarter
Romney:
62.4mil - 17mil = 45.4mil
45.4mil / 100K = an average contribution of $454.00 per person for the year
So based on that article alone you can see the reason the other candidates are raising so much money is they are getting more per person, NOT because they have more people contributing.
Ron Paul raised $5million in the 3rd quarter and I read the average contribution per person was only $40. Does this mean Ron Paul could have had 125,000 donors just for the 3rd quarter? That number would be well over the number of donors for the other Republican candidates. Someone please check my math or find the actual numbers or something please!
