There are about 50 million registered Republicans(for rounding purposes)
As of 6/30 about 46 million of Romney and Giuliani money were max donations
46 million/ 2300 + 20,000 donors
20,000/ 50 million registered Republicans = .0004
or 4 out of every 10,000 Republicans to those two alone gave them the frontrunner status.

When they talk about money raised on TV it sways opinion to think that, wow they must be the most popular and many people must be voting for them so I will too.

In fact its 4 out of 10,000 people that made the impression possible and hope to make the perception a reality.

The real point is being missed though. Not to discount what you're saying, but consider this. On Ron Pauls webpage they mention how much "free advertising" we got from the recent numbers or the poll results of one or more of the debates.
That "free advertising" is merely mentioning a candidatee or reporting on him or her.

remember back last winter when Bufolo was buried under 10 feet of snow? People were trapped in their homes. Old people who couldn't get out. Pregnant women, sick and starving people all trapped yet all we heard was Anna Nicole Smith on every channel constantly. They only inturrupted those Anna Smith stories long enough to cut over to Hillary and Obama. Both who hadn't yet announced their candidacy yet. Obama who has spent all of 1.5 years in the Senate and we were already hearing about him every day! Hillary too! Every single day on every single channel again and again and again.

Meanwhile Ron Paul has spent over 20 years in Congress with an impecable record, a huge internet following, wins in numerous polls and recently a dramatic increase in campaign funding and still they rarely mention him and if they do, they try to marginalize him. Then its back to Ghoulaini, Thompson, Hillary, Obama.

So far,t hsoe other candidates have recieved probably over $Billion in "free advertising". so its not the money-its the media

If the media mentioned them constantly and they raised squat, its over. I am merely pointing out that the money contest has nothing to do with popularity. It has to do with the wealthiest of the wealthy shaping public perception early, before anyone pays attention with gobs of money. I'll bet Paul has more donors than Rudy, yet 1/3 the cash.
