Thank you, Xxxxxxx

Xxxxxxx --

For the first time in our nation's history, Congress has passed comprehensive health care reform. America waited a hundred years and fought for decades to reach this moment. Tonight, thanks to you, we are finally here.

Consider the staggering scope of what you have just accomplished:

Because of you, every American will finally be guaranteed high quality, affordable health care coverage.

Every American will be covered under the toughest patient protections in history. Arbitrary premium hikes, insurance cancellations, and discrimination against pre-existing conditions will now be gone forever.

And we'll finally start reducing the cost of care -- creating millions of jobs, preventing families and businesses from plunging into bankruptcy, and removing over a trillion dollars of debt from the backs of our children.

But the victory that matters most tonight goes beyond the laws and far past the numbers.

It is the peace of mind enjoyed by every American, no longer one injury or illness away from catastrophe.

It is the workers and entrepreneurs who are now freed to pursue their slice of the American dream without fear of losing coverage or facing a crippling bill.

And it is the immeasurable joy of families in every part of this great nation, living happier, healthier lives together because they can finally receive the vital care they need.

This is what change looks like.

My gratitude tonight is profound. I am thankful for those in past generations whose heroic efforts brought this great goal within reach for our times. I am thankful for the members of Congress whose months of effort and brave votes made it possible to take this final step. But most of all, I am thankful for you.

This day is not the end of this journey. Much hard work remains, and we have a solemn responsibility to do it right. But we can face that work together with the confidence of those who have moved mountains.

Our journey began three years ago, driven by a shared belief that fundamental change is indeed still possible. We have worked hard together every day since to deliver on that belief.

We have shared moments of tremendous hope, and we've faced setbacks and doubt. We have all been forced to ask if our politics had simply become too polarized and too short-sighted to meet the pressing challenges of our time. This struggle became a test of whether the American people could still rally together when the cause was right -- and actually create the change we believe in.

Tonight, thanks to your mighty efforts, the answer is indisputable: Yes we can.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

I think he's referring to the beginning of the "Progressive Era."

Teddy Roosevelt founded the progressive movement under the banner of the Republican party.

Theodore Roosevelt wanted socialized medicine, and was the first president to propose it.

He was an across the board statist.

I wonder what being quadrillion dollars in debt looks like, with just a little of 'Yes We Can', I may not have to wonder for too long.

I'm currently about 1/2 way through Amity Shlaes book The Forgotten Man. It is basically an updated version of the events leading up to and prolonging the great depression.

I've found it difficult to read simply because of the "progressives" highlighted in the book and their dreamy eyed love of Stalin's Russia. Makes me want to puke, but certainly puts things in perspective.

So far, however, not a single mention of "healthcare reform" during that period. Seems the biggest concern of that time was agriculture. What is truly eye opening is how the progressives of that time forced policy based on personal experience of family with no regard to the effect on the majority of people. Their whole ideology was based on the failures of parents and other significant others. Like I said, hard to read because the realization is so sickening.

We have two major parties [in America], the stupid party and the evil party. Every once in a while they manage to work together and we call it "bipartisanship".
~Thomas Woods, Rally for the Republic

That right there just about sums up what just happened.

Fabian Socialism gained a strong foothold and infiltrated all areas of government in this country.

The Wilson era solidified their position.
The CFR was created to influence and direct the ongoing takeover.
Media was bought by interests sympathetic to that cause.

coup d'état

You made it farther than I did. I found it difficult to read, perhaps due to her writing style. I lost interest. Maybe I'll come back to it.

It's already been touched on by others in his thread...

They are right, one hundred years ago the "progressive era" began and freedom started it's long death march.

100 years later, world wars that have killed hundreds of millions in teh name of making the world safe for democracy, "progressive" purges that have killed hundreds of millions more in countries all around the world, we now have achieved nadir, the last gasp of freedom in the United States.

Now, the new progressive man can emerge; completely regulated, controlled, monitored and watched form cradle to grave, with no higher goal than service to the state.

That sounds familiar. The endless needs of the minority vs the rights of the majority.

In reference to the headline, 100 yrs ago, the world bank was allowed into this country where it laid the ground work for the FEDERAL RESERVE.They had been trying long before that to get a foot hold in America. They went so far as to attempt an assassination attempt on Thomas Jefferson the 1st time congress blocked their entry.
1 little known fact is Kennedy had just signed a bill ejecting the world bank days before he was killed.By executive order on his way back to DC,the VP,now president struck down the bill less than 2 hours after the assassination.
To get rid of corruption, this is the 1st garbage can we need to empty.
