Breaking News Updates From Around The World (http://www.newsupdatefromaroundtheworld.com/2009/01/speed-camera-prank.html) has an interesting prank that can be played with the scam cameras:
High school kids in Maryland are in the news right now, for playing a speed camera prank they refer to as pimping. They write down the license plate of anyone they don't like, and make a copy of it on glossy paper with same font and color. They borrow a similar make vehicle, attach the fake license plate, and then run a few red lights. When their victim receives the speeding tickets, they have no way of fighting it, because no one will believe them anyway. The Montgomery County Council President Phil Andrews said, " It will cause potential problems for the Speed Camera Program in terms of the confidence in it." Duh. I'm sure these kids are not the only ones who have ever played this speed camera prank. Speeding tickets cause stress with fines, higher insurance rates, and unpaid ones can lead to warrants for your arrest. Something this important should not be left to machines, but should require human verification.
I have to wonder what the effect would be if every official who voted in favour of the cameras got a dozen or so bogus tickets?
Next best would be to simply drive down to the State Legislature and note down a dozen or so license plate numbers at random.:D:p
Maybe a visit to the Redflex/ATS parking lot and note down a dozen or so plates?
The possibilities are endless and no one actually will get hurt while clearly demonstrating the shortcomings of the cameras to the people who matter!lol :D
