Ya'll aren't going to believe this. A friend of mine at the University of Chicago business school said that there was a question regarding Ron Paul on a final exam this week. I don't know the exact words of the question but it was precicely along the lines of, "Ron Paul doesn't think we need a Central Bank. Explain why he's wrong."
This was a large portion of the test as I guess there were only like 9 questions.
The exam should be posted online within the next couple weeks. I will try to find it the minute it's available.
Anyways,
WT BUMBACLOT kind of question is that???!?!?!?

The Federal Reserve came into being at an interesting time from a logic standpoint. One could have argued that it "worked" if no more panics had taken place once it was put into effect, but instead we got the Great Depression and additional financial roller coasters. It doesn't seem like it's really working, does it? One has only to read something as simplistic as the Wiki on the Federal Reserve to notice right away that they don't pass the smell test at all, and that's the most superficial analysis out there.
Prior to the Civil War there was a time when there was no Central Bank/Fed of any sort at all, and the country survived it just fine. Of course... then came the Civil War and the need to pay for it...

I would've greatly enjoyed answering that question.
I might have even read the policies regarding the questions college professors can and not ask and try to get him in trouble.
Hayek was one of the main figures who taught in Chicago business school, I wonder why they didn't ask the students to explain why Hayek is wrong about not having a central bank :)
I suppose that there's a chance that the bias in the question was a little bit less blatant, for example "Ron Paul doesn't think we need a central bank. Give arguments against his position."

No, he is wrong. Because the the banks and corporations deserve to deprive the people of all their property and the children deserve to wake-up homeless on the continent their ancestors conquered.
Don't know how you could manage to overlook that.

I live in Chicago too. Instead of harassing the guy, let's just pass out austrian economic literature outside of his class. I live on the southside so I can get to Hyde Park fairly easily.
And if our plan doesn't work, we can try to pick up nerdy nymphos on campus.
And if that doesn't work, we can get drunk and cry about our failures.

I'd be down for this too. I still have a Ron Paul sign I can bring. I can probably bring another few Ron Paul people if we want to organize :)

I don't think Santelli is anti-Fed. He's not a big fan of gold, that's for sure.

Actually the U of C business school is located downtown, not in Hyde Park. So that makes it actually more convenient to gather at to protest. I believe it's adjacent to the big NBC tower. - http://www.chicagobooth.edu/

we need to get the name and e-mail of the professor who wrote this exam.
my first question to him would sound something like this "regarding the question on the exam about Ron Paul and the Central Bank, would we still have the oppertunity to get full marks on the question if we explained why we thought Ron Paul was right?"
