Just wanted to start up a discussion on Professor Norman Finklestein. Anyone familiar with the guy? He has developed an incredibly controversial reputation as being heavily critical of Israel and the American foreign policy of unilaterally supporting Israeli interests without question.

He is a foremost scholar of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict and has several books, including his book Beyond Chutzpah, that details why Israel is responsible for a long list of human rights violations in Palestine. He also claims the Holocaust has been politicized by the Zionists and is being used as their sole justification for virtually everything Israel does militarily.

I know of his story well because he was a professor of political science at DePaul University, my alma mater, in Chicago, and was denied tenure that stirred up national attention during my senior year. He was fired because of his controversy and public feud with Zionists and war drummers like Alan Dershowitz at Harvard. Talk about a denial of academic freedom.

I'm not sure of his views on domestic policy (i.e. whether he supports nationalized healthcare and other state-run welfare), but on the foreign policy issue, I believe he is totally on board with the Ron Paul liberty movement.

Any thoughts on this guy? I think it would be great to bring him to speak at any of our events. Would've been great to have him on our anti-war panel C4L organized at CPAC this year....

Danke
