View Full Version : What are your top 3 federal agencies you would abolish besides the Fed?

RCA

These are mine, in this order:

1) IRS

2) TSA

3) Post Office

Edit: I've chosen the above because they interact with my daily life the most. I would like to abolish many others, but these agencies impede my daily activities far more than any other agencies do. Getting rid of these would also have the most immediate impact when compared to long term affects of other agencies being shut down.

Didn't know those 2 agencies were under USDA - are you sure?

The two for one special is a mixxed blessing, in DHS's case, while you loose a bunch of objectionable police state stuff, you also loose the Coast Guard....

If you loose DoE you loose nukes and national labs - assuming you ment Energy and not Education.

DoD woudn't be so bad if it was seriously downsized and lived up to it's name, instead of it's former name - the War Department.

He supports the troops and wants to bring then home and make it a lot smaller. He has stated that he would like to see us like Switzerland - nutral and not messing with other countries, but just to be safe he wants the Navy to keep a few boomers at sea at all times.

You can always tell who's on welfare or not by the way they answer questions like this. Anybody who has a real job or runs a business would answer IRS first. It's an empirical fact. People who are on social security, disability, government unions, supported by parents, etc tend to answer differently.

RCA
03-18-2010, 12:18 PM
The purpose of this exercise is to make you think about the differences among the agencies and which ones affect you the most. Saying they all should go is the easy way out for sake of this question, not that they all shouldn't go, but what first, what second and so on. We can't sit around and bitch about our bloated government, but not have a plan for dismantling it.

I chose the IRS because I want more money and letting me keep what I already make would be a good place to start. Once I have more money, I would travel more which is why I chose the TSA as my second priority. The reason I chose the Post Office as my third priority is because that is the agency that I presently deal with the most in my daily life. What are your reasons?

Why not just legalize competition for the Post Office? Allow private companies to deliver First Class Mail. This way the transition can be less painful for mail workers and they can be hired by Private Companies which will expand and take the Post Office's Business.

Should we legalize competition for the IRS as well? No. Just abolish it.

Like most others here I would pick the easy targets like the IRS and Department of Education. We are not really cutting that much with only 3 choices since for example I could make a list cutting billions from the HHS budget.

Well, there aren't any jobs, the point is with competition overtime the Private companies would grow and hire postal carriers rather than leaving these people on the streets when we abolish the Service over night.

The IRS is something totally different. It isn't a service that can be provided by a private entity.

DEA, BATF, FBI, CIA, NSA, DHS

Send a lot of people home with the message of, "Get a real fucking job why don't you?" If we needed a transition period they'd be paving roads and picking up garbage. Anything productive, really.

I would say all that really needs to be slated for removal are: 1. the White House (including all respective staff, aids, and employee or contracted positions), 2. the President, and 3. the Vice President. Everything else will just work itself out as a consequence. Due to modern day technological advancements, none of the above are needed any longer—so far as their purposes were originally intended.
