Machete attack may prompt charges

Winnipeg police and prosecutors are discussing whether to lay charges against a homeowner who allegedly struck a man with a machete, believing he was about to break into his home.
Just before 2:15 p.m. CT on Saturday, a 21-year-old man began "aggressively" kicking and banging on the front door of a home in the 300 block of Good Street in the West Broadway neighbourhood, police said.
Thinking that the man was about to break into his house, the home's owner, a 30-year-old man, armed himself with a machete and went outside to warn him away.
Despite the homeowner's repeated demands to leave, the younger man advanced toward him, according to spokesman Const. Robert Carver.
The homeowner then allegedly hit the man in the arm with the machete, police said.
The victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in stable condition. Police did not identify either man, but said the two did not know each other.
Carver said Sunday that investigators are consulting with Crown attorneys at Manitoba Justice about possible charges. None have been laid yet, Carver said.

In light of the fact that the police could not, and did not protect this man, the prosecutors and the police need to teach him a lesson: victims beware, you will wait for the chalk line drawers - the police - even though it means your possible death, for if you do not we will attack you ourselves.
