Yeah their founder should stop mentioning the tea party every other tweet to be taken seriously as not an "anti tea party" party.

I say this in all seriousness, the local tea partiers could takes these guys out in a street brawl. They all looked like they had been taking their fluoride pills and anti-depressants. Not that I'm condoning such an event, just saying I didn't see any passion.

Low-key java drinkers in Washington kick off Coffee Parties

http://dailycaller.com/2010/03/13/low-key-java-drinkers-in-washington-kick-off-coffee-parties/

This weekend marks the kick-off of the Coffee Parties across the country— which has been billed as the liberal response to the Tea Party movement (http://dailycaller.com/2010/03/11/coffee-party-says-tea-partiers-are-welcome-to-crash-their-shindig-not-so-much-vice-versa/) — and I stopped by one of the Washington D.C. area gatherings Saturday morning at Peregrine Espresso in the Eastern Market area — only to find a small gathering of five activists huddled at a small table.

Eh, even though I doubt they had much in the way of numbers, I'm not going to go dancing and cheering about this. The media also loves to say how few people are at Ron Paul events, even though those of us that are there are left wondering if they can count.

Reminds me of when I used to go to anti war protests a few years back. The "left" had all the momentum and could organize a million people to come together to protest "bush's war". And some "right" groups would always try to counter protest, but could only get 5 people to show up.

It's crazy how the left protest movement has been completely neutered just by electing a new president.

To be fair, when Bush was still president, the status quo Republicans put supporting the president over pretty much anything else.

Yep.

It's startling how similar the right and the left are when their side is in power. Not just the politicians, but the grassroots movements too.

Yep. Also, the media likes to portray a false narrative that the country is 50/50 on these issues. It's not. What you have is a large number of people vehemently opposed to something, and a passionless small group of people (often paid) to counterprotest. That way when congress likes to rape us, they can call it "democracy in action".

I think it is time to protest the media.

I completely agree with you, and when I talk to some of my friends, it's very weird how they went from being very anti-war, to barely even caring now that Obama is president.

Tea parties and Coffee parties are great but people in the heartland would not rise until some visionary started the Milk-shake party. People are fedup with current choices.

I was in NYC for the 2004 protests.

2 million people were in the streets and shut NYC down.

Now, with the same wars, and some new ones as well, and not a peep out of those phonies.

Phuck 'em.

Yeah, the Ultra Socialist for the Obama Regime is trying to mask her true colors and past...

Annabel Park was hosted (by phone) on C-SPAN's 'Washington Journal' on Saturday morning and she sounded more like the Tea Party than the Decaffeinated Commie Coffee Party.

Described as “a documentary filmmaker who lives outside Washington”, Annabel Park has amassed some 40,000 members via a Facebook page.

“We’re not the opposite of the Tea Party,” Ms. Park, 41, told the New York Times. “We’re a different model of civic participation, but in the end we may want some of the same things.”checkout this opinion:

“We need to roll up our sleeves, put our heads together and work it out,”she said. “That’s, to me, an American way of doing this.”

I disagree with both statements. What is occurring is completely natural given the two party structure. Its not phony, and the "left" has not been "neutered." Everything you described is just a logical end to how we in America express ourselves politically. You do what you can. In this case, you vote for the "opposing" strong force. If your goals are not met with that force, the only perceivable option is the side you just fought against. So apathy is normally the end state. Which is why we have in this country such an abysmal voter participation rate.

I went to one in Chicago. Out of the 20 or so people that rsvped yes, 4 showed. We had a good discussion but I don't think this movement is going anywhere fast.

Probably because its based on bullshit. A good idea that isn't thought of further than the idea itself.
