What's a better use of $50? Buy slimjims and distribute them, or give the cash to the campaign to spend on whatever it is they spend money on?

I say donate. They need aggregated money in order to run TV and radio ads.

Distributing slim jims could turn your donation into dozens of donations from people turned on to the message, so I'd say slims.

Make sure you buy slim jims from www.RonPaul.2008 store, and your purchase is counted by the FEC as a "donation" which is also good for free media publicity because your puchase increases our fundrasing numbers.

Id always pick grassroots before General ads.

$50 spent on liberty cards will bring in tons of RP supporters, and a lot more than $50. A $50 donation gets TV time right before the primary. Your investment will yield RP supporters now

Do both.

Do both.

Good solution.

I think we should make a pledge to bring 20 more supporters to the campaign. A national "hand stuff out" day.

Do both.

Even better. Donate 25 directly, and buy 25 bucks worth of slim jims from the official store on ronpaul2008.com

I think 25 bucks would get you over 1000 slim jims (I'm not sure how many exactly), so if that's too much, buy less and donate more.

If you buy the slim jims for a good price, and are skilled at distributing them, I think it's better to buy those than to donate.

At 2 to 3 pennies each, you can buy 2,000 (1,500 to 2,500) of them. If you even get one person out of those 2,000 to donate $50, your investment paid of.

Costs me about $50 with shipping to get 1000 slimjims from the official campaign store.

So, some people think that money should be split in half, $25 to campaign, $25 for slimjims? Some others said all to campaign, and others all to slimjims.

Seems you all are as confused as I am. :D

Oh here's an even more evil question:

What if I can make the slimjims cheaper on my own at kinkos or something? Would it make more sense to distribute more slimjims that way, or is it more important to funnel money through the campaign?

After speaking with one of the campaign staffers in Nashville this weekend, they'd rather have folks donate than buy stuff in the store. It's a different story after the primaries are over though.

How do you pick ads that aren't garbage or misleading? I like distributing the "official" materials since the language is consistent with the campaign. I've seen a lot of homemade ads that put words in Ron Paul's mouth or are just plain wrong.

For example, I see a lot of grassroots ads that say "Ron Paul WILL abolish the IRS!" In my opinion, that ad is misleading since it's putting words into his mouth. What if, when he gets into office, the legislation to shut s=down the IRS gets blocked in the congress - people would blame him for not shutting down the IRS since he "promised" to do it. See what I mean?

The campaign has done a lot of research into the language they use in the various materials and I think that it makes sense to use those.

Buy the slim jims............. DEFINITELY

That 50 dollars worth of slim jims will get more publicity for RP than 50 sent to the campaign. Imagine if you get 20 people to donate 100 dollars because you turned them on to Ron Paul with the slim jims. Thats 2000 dollars donated directly because of you, as opposed to just 50 dollars.

we need more people to know about Ron if he is to have a chance at the nomination, and that cant be done without people on the ground.

slim jims.............. no contest.
