I was listening to Jason Lewis tonight (He's been nationally syndicated for about a year now, has been a guest host for Limbaugh numerous times). He spoke for a while about starting a tax revolt by ending payroll deductions. Make people write a check to the federal and state governments every month.

We need to start SERIOUSLY talking about a tax revolt. Make the Republicans and Democrats nervous. How will they ever pay back all this debt if tax revenues seriously decline? I know some of you get nervous about this idea, but we ARE revolutionaries, are we not?

And of course I'm not advocating anyone NOT pay their taxes. Just have our Liberty Movement candidates propose outlawing payroll withholding and have taxpayers write a check every month to the government. I'm telling everyone to pay their taxes, and if they wake up to how much the government is robbing them, then let the chips fall where they may.

Maybe Paul needs to authour a bill but he or we would need to create something akin to the "anti-fed fervor" towards payroll deductions..

Of all the nationally syndicated hosts I've heard, Lewis is the best by far. Of course I may be biased, I have been listening to him for YEARS. Lewis IS what most people THINK Beck is. An honest to goodness conservative who grew up in the Goldwater Revolution, has libertarian leanings and has been questioning the establishment long before Barry O got into office.

I've been listening to Jason for at least 15 years. He is not afraid to call himself a libertarian, and has had Ron Paul on his show many times. He agrees with just about everything, except of course or military foreign policy(or more specifically the war on terror), which Jason says he respectfully disagrees, but he understands Ron's sentiments about a non-interventionist foreign policy.

Jason was instrumental in starting the tax protests at the Minnesota state capitol (or at least making them popular, I've been attending them since the first one in 1996, which was started by Libertarian Party members. Not many people showed up that year, but they really got the turn out in 1998 when Jesse Ventura ran for governor).

So Jason is able to start a movement of sorts, and hopefully he talks about ending payroll tax deductions more. This is the second time I've heard him talk about it. If we truly want liberty and limited government, I think this approach is our best hope. Wake people up to how much government is costing them.

Jason Lewis makes a lot of sense. But he's not quite a Libertarian. He's like Glen Beck, only with more integrity.

I was just listening to yesterdays podcast of his show. And in hour 2

He goes on a little rant and says, "Ron Paul was right.", lists off a few things and says, "I happen to think he is right about the middle east, we need to get out of the religious war there".

Jason needs more national recognition. He's not a sell out, like Beck and Hannity.

Of course this is why we have the federal government we have now. Your employer wouldn't steal from you unless they were threatened by the fed themselves. That's why I quit being an employer and became an employee.
Remember the income tax was was created to pay for the war that ended states rights. It was enacted to pay the costs of federal takeover of the individual states.
Or did you know that? History is such a bitch when it's taught in a federal school house.

Who needs school when everything you'll ever need to know is right there on your computer?

Payroll withholding started during WWII, as a temporary measure until the war was over. Guess the war never ended.

Wasn't talking payroll. Payroll tax was tough in the 1800s. That didn't stop them from their first attempt at taking from individuals to cover their wars.

Revenue Act of 1861.

and your correct the wars have never ended. That is why we have had a standing Army since as long as anyone living can remember. Even though the Constitutions "original intent" does not allow it.

EDIT: Thanks for that link. :)

Lewis is alright. Not perfect but definitely an ally. He was advocating the legalization of pot this year and railing against the drug war.

If there was a tax revolt it sounds like "Coach" is ready to lead the way

"...and I'm just thinking, maybe the American people might be thinking about a tax revolt"

"I'm thinking about it. I'm seeing what people think..." (talking about paying his taxes)

In case anyone needs one more reason to like him, when John Hostettler was in Congress, he authored a bill to end tax withholding.

You can donate to his Senate campaign at http://www.johnhostettler.com.

I'd put at least Free Talk Live first, and also Walter Williams when he fills in for Rush -- which is far too uncommon these days. In my daydream Rush retires and puts Walter Williams in his place.

He's done it twice already... once in 2000, and again in 07:

So I've been listening to his archive and podcasts and searched his site. I haven't found him mention Rand at all. He is definitely an ally, perhaps an effort to get a call into his show is in order? I'm gonna try tonight. anybody else up to try?
