View Full Version : Ron Paul's million dollar day?

Can we pick a day and promote the hell out of it to try and raise a million dollars online? Is this a reachable goal? What day would you pick to make the attempt? Would this help or harm the overall fundraising activity?

Post your ideas...

It can be done.

Would have to be on a payday. What day of the week would be best?

Romney raised $6 million one day. That makes me a sad panda.

Payday for Paul!

Keep in mind that this is about 20x higher than the daily average right now, about $50,000.

you'd have to give advance notice so people have time to come up with the cash

agreed... we'd also need a little time to spread it across the internet. I think friday is enough time but if you guys want a different day I'm cool with it.

We might want to buy a domain to co-ordinate. ronmillion.com or something.

I think it is a good idea to a degree, but only to a degree.

Oct 31st would be a good day for this - it is the end of the month, it is a payday for most people.

Problem I see: I think a lot of fundraising would dry up between now and then as people "saved up" for the million dollar day - it would be a cool one day thing but I am not sure it would raise more in that day than would be raised by the slow steady donations now.

All we'd really need to do is make a ton of youtube videos (and bump them), get a bunch of the RP bloggers out there to write a couple articles promoting it, contact all the meetups and get people energized about donating Friday.

payday for Paul sounds like a great idea. I will commit to $100.00 next paycheck. We need someone to set the day (this Fri. would be good for me) and to put up a thermometer. Can somebody do this? Please.

If you want a MILLION and you want to SUCCEED you really need to think whether Friday is too soon. Everyone's been pumping money to the campaign for the last few weeks, so perhaps the end of the month, to coincide with the surge to reach the 4mil goal, would give time for word to spread, people save and prepare, etc. I'd love to see this come off, and I'll pledge 100 right now, but I know speaking for myself and probably a lot of others, 20 or 30 would hurt a bit, *this* week. But it'd be done, by many of us.

Just a thought. Either way, I'm in :)

Thanks, I spit my water all over the keyboard lmao

This Friday is way too soon, if this were to get organized. Besides, everyone saving to reach the million dollar mark would deter people from donating on a regular basis to reach the monthly goals.

This would take a LOT of planning and at least a month to organize the amount of people it would take to make a one day goal.

Although, it would only take 435 people to donate 2,300 to make a million. But are 435 people willing/able to do so?

On October 27, will you say "I saw saw?"

Yes. And until then, I'll be saying "I'm going to see saw"

How did I know you were going to go there =)

So, how does October 26 sound for a $1 million day?

I agree completely. And I fear it's going to mess up HQ's financial planning.

I disagree that it would somehow detract from other donations. You are assuming that this promotional exercise would be so successful that it would be known by a large percentage of Ron Paul supporters. It could only help in my opinion.

I like the idea, ron paul supporters seem to do best when given a specific goal that needs to be achieved. To make a million in one day all you'd need is 10,000 supporters to pledge $100 or 20,000 to pledge $50.

We have way more supporters than that guys :)

This is a good Idea, we'd need to coordinate it in advance with the official campaign (who has contact with them?) It also should be promoted like hell a couple weeks leading up to the date.

we'd need to coordinate it in advance with the official campaign.

That isn't needed.

Or you could just donate that money to the campaign.

A central place to plan the day is worth more in fund-raising than $3.

I guess I just don't understand all of these additional fundraising pushes and websites and pledges and, and and....I mean, the campaign is already doing fundraising pushes (anyone remember the $12 million by Dec. 31st push?). I say, just donate.

They've set a goal but there is no current push. I think a Pioneer/Ranger style program would be a fantastic booster, but in the mean-time, we'll have to do it at the grass-roots level. I'm sure they've got big things planned, but in the mean-time, this gets us motivated and makes us feel more like $12 million is do-able.

I think waiting slightly would be best. I would do it on the 1st start November with a huge push. This gives plenty of notice, many people get paid on the 1st.

I'm down with this. It gives the campaign a little time in case they've got something big planned soon that they haven't announced yet.

IMO we need to be regularly bringing in $250,000 a day to make this feasible.

I think I have a good idea for a distributed fundraiser. Can someone tell me a synonym for "challenge" that starts with an "M"?
