Maybe McBerry in the primaries and then Monds for the race?

The time is ripe for libertarianism to actually be realized in a party win. We need more to run for lower offices and congress and state senate seats.

Ray McBerry!

Constitution Candidates Expand Across States (http://www.thenewamerican.com/index.php/usnews/politics/2779-constitution-candidates-expand-across-states)

Georgia Governor: Ray McBerry

Georgia native and gubernatorial candidate Ray McBerry says, “I consider myself a ‘constitutionalist’ — that is, I strongly support a return to the original principles of our Founding Fathers. Although I am a life-long Republican, I do not support the globalist, socialist policies of either the Democrat or Republican parties at the national level.” McBerry adds that “the grand constitutional republic that was given to us by the Founding Fathers to preserve our ancient liberty stands on the brink of being transformed into a tyrannical empire, just as the Roman Republic of old.”

McBerry pledges to work against attacks on both economic and civil liberties of Georgia voters. On taxes, he says, “I support the abolition of both income and property taxes and the replacement of them with a state sales tax. It is my belief that any graduated tax based upon income is Marxist and should be repudiated.” And he differs from many establishment Republicans in pledging to work against the federal surveillance state: “Federal intrusions, both present and planned, are a greater threat to our liberty and privacy than any threat of foreign invasion or terrorist attack has ever been. As Governor, I will work with our General Assembly, state court system, and fellow Governors to rein in this invasion of privacy and liberty by the federal government and will seek to ensure that Georgia is a refuge for privacy and liberty to all of her citizens.”

McBerry is making his second run at the Georgia governorship after losing as an unknown to incumbent Sonny Purdue in the 2006 Republican primary by an 88-12 margin. This time Purdue is ineligible for reelection because of Georgia’s term-limit laws, and McBerry is running in a crowded field of seven candidates in the Republican primary.

McBerry polled just three percent in an October Rasmussen poll, trailing Georgia’s fire and insurance commissioner John Oxendine, who has 27 percent. Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel (12 percent) and Congressman Nathan Deal (nine percent) also lead McBerry. The eloquent McBerry still has some time before the July 2010 primary to gather supporters. McBerry may be the perfect man to sell the constitutional message; he owns an advertising firm that produces radio and television commercials in the Atlanta market. And because the Republican primary field is wide open right now, he may pick up those Tea Party voters to win the GOP primary.

A recent scandal came out about McBerry have an inappropriate relationship with a female student back when he was a teacher, so I think that is the type of reason definitely not to vote for a guy (It was a few years ago, so it's not like it's way back). But anyways, I supported Monds before I heard about this, and I still support Monds.

Does that mean you can't decide for yourself!

Nope. I would support McBerry in the primaries and then Monds as Governor ;)

I can of course decide for myself.
What I want to know is what everyone else here is looking for or how the other Georgians think politically.

leaning Monds.

Not even sure if I'm voting in the GOP primary. Everyone in that race seems so establishment and status quo, or worse.

If candidates really are 'liberty candidates' why do they not prove by proudly pushing for ballot reform and by joining the Libertarian Party?

I would like to know who among the republicans listed on the primary ballots are the most liberty minded, but in the end, in the fall, I will be voting the LP all the way.
If not now then when?

I pulled for Chapman today. Not thrilled about it. Will likely go Monds in the general.
Sheesh, there were like a half dozen or more GOP primary contenders. Runoff for sure.

I'm still going with Monds, but I looked the guy up.

There's something indescribably intriguing about the man, I believe. He definitely seems like a pretty cool dude, in some intangible way, but maybe not one for the governor's office.

I found this at the site you linked:

Horsley is a BIGOT.

He definitely doesn't like homosexuals. I don't agree with him there.

"Intriguing" was the best word I could come up with. It doesn't mean I agree with him, just that he's kind of fun(ny?) to watch, in a weird way.

If he won't protect a homosexual's rights, why would he protect mine?
I am going with Monds.

Well, actually, that's the even more surreal part:

He has issued this press release:

http://www.horsleyforgovernor.com/homofagotsfriend.html

PRESS RELEASE: August 17, 2009

Today the CNN newspaper headline read: Gay Men Attacked, Executed In Iraq, Rights Group says.

The CNN report continued, "In 2004, militias and unknown groups started to go after the gays ... but the peak was six months ago," said Qaisar, who uses a pseudonym for fear of reprisal. "It has become wide scale war against gays in Iraq."

"Interviews with doctors indicate hundreds of men had been killed [in Iraq], but the exact number was unclear because of the stigma associated with homosexuality in Iraq, the New York-based watchdog group said in its report."

Neal Horsley, candidate for Governor of Georgia, USA, promises that if elected he will protect homofagots from citizen violence and will provide them with due process of law instead of killing them in droves as in done in Iraq. Candidate Horsley said, "Homofagots will think I'm their Sugar Daddy compared to the way the Arabs treat them. Iraqi homosexuals might actually move to Georgia to get put in our prisons instead of being torn apart, or killed with blowtorches, as is happening in Iraq."

Horsley continued, "True, it's not surprising to see the large numbers of homofagots being killed. And, while it is an excellent way to alert homosexuals to the dangers that await them, not only in this world, but the world to come, as Governor of Georgia, I will provide homofagots with exactly the same protection the law affords anyone arrested, tried and convicted of a capital offense in the State of Georgia. I promise to see no homofagot executed in Georgia without the full due process of law, no homosexual executed before it's time," Horsley concluded.

HORSLEY FOR GOVERNOR, THE HOMOFAGOTS' FRIEND

But, I'm voting for Monds, too. I hope a lot of McBerry's supporters will look into the libertarian in this race.
