Last year David Brin wrote an article at the Libertarian Reform Caucus on the political spectrum. Here is the article: <http://www.reformthelp.org/marketing/positioning/models.php> (http://www.reformthelp.org/marketing/positioning/models.php). While I quibble with Brin on a few points, there is one part that stands out, and is truly insightful:

It's interesting to note that libertarians and anarchists frequently get along, even become good friends, although neither would last long in the company of Stalin, Marcos, or Hitler. Meanwhile, Panamanian "strongman" Manuel Noriega, characterized for years as a "right winger," later appeared to be best friends with Fidel Castro, while Stalin trusted Hitler as no one else, right up to the eve of invasion... and Saddam Hussein admired both.

...

Clearly, left and right mean very little, when it comes to whom you'll share a six pack with. Your attitude toward violent power is a much stronger predictor of your friends.

Here's my question: If Ron Paul managed the impossible, and won the nomination... Would the big government neocons support a Ron Paul candidacy, or would they jump ship and endorse Hilllary Clinton? I greatly fear that it would be the latter.

It's time for true conservatives to take back the Republican Party! Toss those damned neocon sociofascists out on their butts! Embarass them with quotes from Goldwater and Reagan! Hell, embarass them with quotes from Nixon and Ford! Let's make the neocons so irrelevant that the Dems can have their stinking votes!

As being an unintentional neo-con supporter for the only 7 years of my voting career, I can quite easily and knowledgebly say, no republican(even neo-con) in their sober mind would vote for Hillary Clinton. No worries on that one.

First... Hillary Clinton is a necon. Neocon, Neolib... what difference? Maybe some clarification here (http://georgewashington.blogspot.com/2006/05/neoliberals-are-neither.html).

As far as supporting her... the same people back Hillary as back all the Neocons... huge multinational corporations expecting big kickbacks in the form of no bid contracts and other governments expecting aid both monitarily and militarily like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Israel.

Of course they won't publically endorse her or anything like that, but that's just a minor thing in the grand scheme... the money, the media control, it'll all swing her way... as it stands now, the big guys behind the scenes don't care, because pretty much anyone who wins is a win for them because they back them all (except mavericks like Ron Paul).

On the other hand, in my own calculations, as far as the actual people go - Hillary is the one you want to go up against... especially with Paul. Two simple reasons for that: First, Hillary will bring republicans out AGAINST her like nobody ever before. For many many she is the devil incarnate. Second, Ron Paul is the only candidate from the GOP that can actually draw liberals across the isle to vote for him... thus, you've got some kind of perfect storm where a snowball makes it all the way through hell and usurps the presidency.

Anyways, that's just my speculations.
