I don't object to that but I don't like the picture. They need one that reflects his true legacy, similar to this one of Juan McCain

Why Reagan?
And why a fifty?

How about putting his face on a penny? That's how much his presidency is worth anyway....

And why a fifty?

Well, Grant has been consistently ranked one of the worst presidents in U.S. historys by experts. He seems the best candidate to remove from the paper money.

That may be, but he looks way more badass than Reagan.

I wonder how much it would cost to put Reagan's mug on the $50? I wonder if the alleged fiscal conservative considered that.

Speaking of our stupid government, I just got my mail and the US Department of Commerce sent me a letter telling me that the census form will come in about a week and that I should fill it out and send it back promptly. If I don't, my community may not receive it's "fair share" of stolen goods.

I wonder how much that cost? I wonder how much it cost for the Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Korean and Japanese interpretations at the bottom of the letter.

Nice rant. Very similar to the one inside my head recently. Did you hear it or what???:D

It doesn't matter, other than amy pi's point above about the cost, whose face is on any of the bills. fiat money = tp IMHO, we'll be using them to start fires someday in the not too distant future. Now that it's warming up, maybe I'll stuff them in the walls for insulation...

I'm in ur head, googlin' fer anti-government sentiment! :p May I suggest using the bills as wall paper? At least a border--I (somewhat seriously) have contemplated buying debased currency to use as wall paper in my half-bath, I think it'd be effing hilarious.

I also just think it's funny that Andrew Jackson is on the $20.

I'm not a bumper sticker person myself, but I might make an exception for a magnetic version of that. That's just sweet.

Why Reagan?
And why a fifty?

So that three years from now when we're buying a loaf of bread we get two mnemonics that reinforce the party's assertion that he was somehow the architect of the problems that "capitalism" brought us.

There were two women canvassing my neighborhood yesterday about the census, asking largely race related questions. They didn't come to my house. Wish they had, because the whole family was in the yard. I really wanted to say "Look - here they all are - one, two, three, four. Goodbye."

Why not put Grover Cleveland back on a bill? Thomas Jefferson, Calvin Coolidge and Frederick Douglass would be nice too!

Might as well have a system like the post office, when someone dies, they are eligible to be on a stamp/bill. Just think of the income revenue from selling that to the highest bidder! We could have a "Starbucks" five dollar bill.....or "6 Flags" C note....:D

If Reagan is going to replace any currency figure it should be Jackson. Why? Well for one, I think Jackson would be horrified and angry if he knew that his face was on currency issued by a central bank. Seriously, that has to be one of the biggest pieces of irony in American history.

Very true...add George Washington to the list too.

If we are looking to rid ourselves of the Fed Reserve then why not revert back to money that had no presidents on them? Why should we worship presidents like they are kings?

Yeah, but they don't even circulate 'em anymore. The only one I've ever seen in person has been locked away in my dad's heirloom cabinet.

You can still get them, you just have to ask the bank when you get FRN's.
