Ron Paul Surging in the Polls Among Moderates

10/8/07

There is more great news for the Ron Paul campaign, not just the money he raised in the third quarter but also that this is starting to translate into real life support. Among moderates in New Hampshire, Ron Paul is in the double digits. The sample size of moderates in this poll is only 203 but is as high as some of the University polls that are reported widely in the media.
John McCain 26%
Mitt Romney 17%
Rudy Giuliani 16%
Ron Paul 10%
Fred Thompson 5%
Mike Huckabee 4%
Unsure 21%

In Michigan, out of a sample size of 307, Ron Paul is sitting at 8% among moderates.
John McCain 20%
Rudy Giuliani 16%
Ron Paul 8%
Mitt Romney 6%
Fred Thompson 5%
Mike Huckabee 5%
Sam Brownback 2%
Duncan Hunter 1%
Unsure 38%
Source

This is very promising news for Ron Paul because the moderates tend to be the most Undecided of all the voters. New Hampshire (21%), Michigan (39%) so as those voters learn of Ron Paul, more gains are expected. The other item to note is that Independents in New Hampshire are allowed to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries if they wish. Thus, Ron Paul will be gaining in the polls shortly.

Ron is doing great in the state polls, and still has nowhere to go but up.

If we could pull within 5-8% of the leader in any state, we could win that state.

I love the high undecided numbers. Those are people who need to hear our message. As well as those who back another candidate :)

This is Insider Advantage again. I'm not sure if we can trust these people. I've never heard of them.

Where is that post with the info on which pollsters were most accurate?

Bradley, was that one you posted?

This is the same one from a couple days ago.

I'm not sure about insider advantage, i'll have to wait for a few more polls to see if this is a real trend

Gallup is probably the most respected. Gallup has had him at 4% nation-wide. Other big ones are Rasmussen and Zogby.

That was from September 14th - 16th. I'm eager to see the next poll they do.

Gallup should have a new poll out this week.

Excellent. I'm thinking that if we pass 7% or so, we'll start to get some tipping from people who were supporting bigger candidates because "Ron Paul can't win". Hopefully that's when the dam will break and they all flood in. I'd also like to see some Huckabee people (who are already obviously resistant to "first-tier" candidates) re-consider and back Ron Paul.

Ultimately, though, we have to get a LOT of Republicans to change their mind on the war.

If everyone who said that they would vote for him but won't because he can't win would just vote for him then I think he would win by a landslide.

Up to 10% in NH and 8% in Michigan. I have no idea how the poll "Moderates" but I think this is pretty significant.

Are these moderates registered republicans?

They have to poll a few people and have that represent the state I am assuming?

I have never been contacted nor has anyone I known so I wonder who they poll?
