After I had left Congress, Ron Paul, Republican and Libertarian, kindly wrote that I was much missed:

Wow, I originally wrote off Campbell with not much thought, but now I'm gonna have to re-evaluate my support for DeVore.

Good find! Sheeesh this is getting tough... I'm gonna have to look more into Campbell, his website really sucks at spelling out what he will do once in office or what he did when he was a representative. http://www.campbell.org/ideas I think its apt that he calls the section "Ideas" because thats all they sound like.

I think that it more reflective of the page's admin (Byron Sanford) than of Tom Campbell. Still, I suppose Campbell is worthy of at least consideration.

You do know about the "controversy" that Lew is referring to in that quick blip?

Tom Campbell has bent over backwards (and forwards, and in any other position requested by AIPAC) to dispel the attack on him by Carly Fiorina (referenced by that Rockwell piece).

I would think a "life-long commitment to limited government and greater individual liberty" would have resulted in a voting record consistent with this philosophy. His last years results were the best.

Most responses were predictable, but one question drew mind boggling responses by two of the three candidates.

Question: Should people on the no-fly watch list be allowed to purchase a gun?

Tom Campbell: Ah, NO!

Chuck DeVore: Yes, if they have not been convicted of a felony

Carly Fiorina: Yes

Campbell: Oh my goodness

Fiorina: That is why Tom Campbell has a poor rating from the National Rifle Association

I'm surprised Tom Campbell isn't on the no-fly list. It's a pretty common name.

I was just about to post kudos to him b/c his "ideas" page has some great plans regarding cutting the deficit and foreign policy (he chooses to highlight in his 50 word summary of the issue, over all other foreign policy points, that declaring war is the only way to rock).

He also spit on the thousands of people telling him not to vote for TARP by turning around and voting for it. The TARP vote cancels out about fifty good fiscal votes in my opinion.

That's good to know. It certainly cancels out his claim to caring about fiscal discipline.
