May I suggest not going off on the US is owned by Israel tangent. The better response is "what is it about individual freedom that you don't like?" to turn the question back on the accuser. The debate needs to be about the benefits of liberty to the individual and society at large. That is a winning message in the USA. After establishing that as the baseline, then the logic follows, that we don't meddle in the affairs of other countries.
