Whereas, Congress has the responsibility to focus on conditions at home in America, addressing infrastructure, putting millions of Americans back to work, saving millions of people from foreclosure and helping 47 million people to receive health care; and
They should "help" them by getting out of the f@#*ing way

Well, even Ron Paul said he would cut overseas spending and use it back here.

I think he said on infrastructure, though.

I think he said on infrastructure, though.

I believe he said he would rather spend it here, not that he would.

Edit: on the OP, well at least there is still 1 member of the anti-war left still around.

Dear Liberal Friend,

When you accept such a loose translation of The Constitution, you totally loose control of the government. Maybe you will wake up one day.

Dear
Representative Kucinich will introduce a privileged resolution tomorrow invoking the War Powers Act to force the President to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan this year. This will force Congress to debate the war and our open-ended occupation of Afghanistan.
By forcing a vote on this critical issue just before election season, we can show Washington that this issue is still important to voters. We may not win this vote, but we can build the momentum now that we'll need to win the next one (http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=8e4LQTASoDIZpbAtPUnddUu4722mJRi0).
This conflict has ruined too many American and Afghan lives to be swept under the rug. Rather than a failed military strategy, the U.S. needs to focus on long-term political solutions in the region and invest in Afghan-led aid and development. Please click here and contact your Representative in the House and tell her or him it's time for the troops to come home (http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=QUINXf1pfL4%2FPG%2BNbvw%2BN0u4722mJRi0).

Sincerely,

Paul Martin
Political Director
Peace Action
P.S. Please tell your friends about this important piece of legislation after you fill out the action here (http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=VGCbktIFw7565C%2BQSTltvku4722mJRi0).

Kucinich hasn't introduced it yet, but it seems like he wants Congress to take back authority over the Afghanistan war, after giving the authority to the Executive branch.

Duncan Hunter of course calling this "Our Retreat and Abandonment" Resolution

"we are fighting this war so my children will not have to"

Ok - so you don't think that the children of the Afghanistan whose parents were killed because of our "collateral damage" won't grow up hating their occupiers?

what did he mean we should have gone a step further to have a "committee" vote and hearings rather than having this just on the house floor? what did he mean by that?

I'd read that as, "i'd prefer if we pretended to do something about this, but in committee so it could die a slow death without having to come up for a full house vote and force us all to go on record."

So far Bachmann's just been another rank and file republican. She may pay some lip service to the tea parties, but that's where it ends.

I am surprised by some of the no votes . . .
even some Republicans that were before opposed to the Afghanistan troop buildup for fiscal reasons as well as human life -
is it the same old argument of using up 'political capital' in the Capitol ?

Vote them all out of office in November.
