Remember the expression “Kids say the darnedest things?” (One clue of how far back it goes is the use of “darnedest.”) The second phase of a campaign for Ally Bank will continue to feature kids — er, children, in the formal locution of the newspaper that operates this blog — and the things they say in the face of what are meant to be idiotic adult activities.

The next phase of the campaign begins on Monday with two new television commercials. Like the first four spots in the campaign, introduced last year, children are confronted by a smarmy adult who annoys and upsets them by doing dumb things. The dumb things represent what Ally considers to be the anti-consumer attitudes and actions of other banks.

How about a choice for "it's nobody's business but the parents?"

And how is acting equated to child abuse, anyway. I don't see any of these kids screaming "No, daddy, don't make me act!"
