"Obama's signature comes after the House voted 315 to 97 Thursday to extend the measure."

315 people to kick the fuck out.

This was something i saw on my Facebook though, posted by someone who used to tease me about being a Ron Paul supporter. I think it is nice to see even Obama people pissed:

Mason Evans because both sides are working for the same people, and are only presented as being different to make you think you have some choice about how your country is run. Obama is no less of a lapdog than W, Clinton or Bush senior.....surprise, kiddies, that change you could believe in is really just the same old song and dance.....

I will be both calling my Congresswoman, and supporting anyone who runs against her.

That's my problem. I really don't like my 80% neocon rep. He votes for the war, and war spending but votes against the bailout, and against the patriot act. His opponent for the last 2 races was against the war, but for the patriot act, and his last one was for the bailout too.

Who do I vote for? So far I haven't voted for our rep in a decade. I leave it blank.

Why is it titled " Medicare Physician Payment Reform Act?"

EXACTLY! That's how they do it:

An extension of the Patriot Act with no reforms of its abusive powers of unreasonable search and seizure against American citizens has passed the House of Representatives. The vote was 315 in favor of extending the Patriot Act without reform, 97 against, and 20 not voting.

Search for information about the roll call of this vote online tonight, and you’ll just find this nameless tally of numbers. You won’t find the names. Why?

The reason is that the House Democratic leadership voted on the renewal of the Patriot Act in such a way as to hide the vote from the American people. Go to the web site of the Clerk of the House, and you’ll see no vote from today about the Patriot Act at all. What you will see is Roll Call 67, “On Motion to Concur in Senate Amendments” for H.R. 3961, the Medicare Physician Payment Reform Act.

The roll call nays are a good list of core Congressman on our side . . .
although maybe muddled by the other parts of this bill . . . the extension of the Patriot Act was reason enough for a nay.

Iowa congressional delegation was split 3-2 on this with King (not surprising, from western Iowa) and the central Iowa delegation for the Patriot Act extension,
but with both Eastern Iowa Congressman nays -

These two represent the citizens of Iowa City (University of Iowa), Jefferson County (Ron Paul country),
Dubuque, Waterloo/Cedar Falls (Univ. Northern Iowa), Cedar Rapids, Independence, etc.
- AGAINST any bill that includes the extension of the Patriot Act . . .
because the citizens of Eastern Iowa recognize and are vocal about the Patriot Act as an abridgment of liberty.

The patriot act is about the most unAmerican thing I have ever seen. Really really getting tired of this garbage. We get a so called super lib in there and he can't veto this? Obama brings the worst of it all to the table....socialism, fascism, demagoguery, and then he plays lip service to ending wars and can't be bothered to veto this blatanty unconstituional legislation. A big fat giant zero.

To top it all off he is now going to start screwing with the internet. Why do we tolerate this?
