Furious at the tempest over the Tea Party -- the scattershot citizen uprising against big government and wild spending -- Annabel Park did what any American does when she feels her voice has been drowned out: She squeezed her anger into a Facebook status update.

"let's start a coffee party . . . smoothie party. red bull party. anything but tea. geez. ooh how about cappuccino party? that would really piss 'em off bec it sounds elitist . . . let's get together and drink cappuccino and have real political dialogue with substance and compassion."

Friends replied, and more friends replied. So last month, in her Silver Spring apartment, Park started a fan page called "Join the Coffee Party Movement." Within weeks, her inbox and page wall were swamped by thousands of comments from strangers in diverse locales, such as the oil fields of west Texas and the suburbs of Chicago.

Yea, lets invest a lot of time, energy, and emotions into another activity that will not lead to any more liberty and will get usurped in the media and used against the cause of liberty. Thanks, Dan. How much did the Washington Post pay you to write that clever article?

If we're going to have parties, let's have Declaration of Independence Parties. Or perhaps Unalienable Rights Parties. Let's see those clowns attack these institutions.

Every party needs an animal to represent it, though.

Either the Zorse or the Okapi would be my picks.

Passing through a civet's intestines the coffee beans are then defecated . . . having kept their coffee bean shape.
. . . widely noted as the most expensive coffee in the world.

so this name really seems very appropriate for them and the ObamaCare they support.

There's some question about whether it started here or whether that girl came up with it. Maybe it was a draw, but what do we know about her? Is she an RP supporter?

Let's just go straight to the Tequila Party and dispense with Coffee & Tea. If we all get obnoxiously drunk, they just might mistake us for DC-insiders and then leave us alone.

There WAS something about a coffee party posted here a week or 2 ago. I remember because someone posted a Gadsen flag with a coffee cup on it.

The coffee party that this news article is promoting is for progressives who want more government. Climate Change legislation, health care, etc.

This is odd because I remember the threads about 2 weeks ago about starting a coffee party, "a wake up and smell the coffee party".

Is it possible that we were pre-emptively hijacked? The website looks like it is only a couple days old.

Interesting...

The coffee party represents the ultra-statist-elitists, and the tea party represents the average taxpayer...

The progressives have launched the coffee party, and is being promoted on the internet and media outlets.

It appears that it was launched about a week ago, but is already going viral.

Whiny liberals either colleting from the government or mommy and daddy will be using the coffee party to advance their statism, and they will have lots of free time to do so. Great.

Man, I should have studied psychology... This is fascinating.

It turns out that the "grassroots" organizer of the "progressive alternative" to the Tea Parties, the Coffee Party, has been exposed as an Obama political operative.

Coffee Party Forum (http://electionink.com/forumdisplay.php/38-Grassroots-Coffee-Party-Movement)

The Coffee Party Movement gives voice to Americans who want to see larger government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the solution to all of lives problems, an expression of our collective thinking, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to build a one party system. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work toward positive government solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct progress.

Another epic fail on progressives. Annabel former Obama campaigner and working for the NY Times? lolwut.

Tea Party gets hijacked or in the process of....progressives make a party to go against Tea Party. Sounds like a splendid idea for further divide and conquer.

This sums up my expression/feelings after reading the FB page....
