What do you think the role of government is?
by Alex Merced
Faschism/Communism/Socialist -
You believe that the nation is the government and that it should control all resources and commerce, and that people should labor only to continue the existance of the government. People cannot be left to their own devices cause human nature is destructive, so only the enlightened elite can determinet he best allocation of resources and labor.
Neo-Liberal/Neo-Conservative
You believe the government has a large role and can improve social and economic welfare by imposing values. The values that the government should impose can be religous, philosophical, or even scientific, yet these values somehow drive economic and social progress so the governement must impose them, yet some level autonomy is allowed within the values framework of the ruling party.
Classical Liberal/Paleo-Conservative/Libertarian
You believe that the government is neutral and should exists only to protect the autonomy of peoples social and economic behavior and ability to determine their own opinion on different ideas, philosophies, and values. So dominance of social and economic institutions only exist due to participation and acceptability in society and it's participants, and not by the threats of violence from a government so these social & economic institutions can change quicker as the societies values and philosophies change.
Market-Anarchism/Syndicate-Anarchism/Socialist Anarchism
You believe that the existence of the government is what prohibits people from creating a utopian society, that only by eliminating the monopoly of force can the social and economic institutions develop to create this society whether be it market based or by some method of allocating resources.
