Nearly all of the guys in Loyola New Orleans are Austrian, pro-Austrian, or pro-free market. Some of the guys at Auburn are Austrian or pro-free market. Some of the guys at GMU are also Austrian, pro-Austrian, or pro-free market. NYU has a few Austrians (two?) and offers courses strictly from the Austrian POV (I'm not sure if those are just grad courses or also undergrad courses). Also, Grove City College and Hillsdale College might have a few Austrians. I know that both are pro-free market.

George Mason offers a phd in austrian economics. overall, the undergrad department is probably the best austrian school in the country too.

When looking for good economics at the college level you generally have to look for those more affiliated with the Chicago School.

Here's a short list of colleges/universities that have Austrian school or pro-Austrian econ profs:
1. GMU
2. NYU
3. Hillsdale
4. Grove City
5. Loyola New Orleans

Now, please explain how any of these schools are not good.

Just don't take macro courses.

You'll probably be required to take one or two, but don't elect any others and you'll be fine.

wow. this turned into a great thread with a great list. GMU seems like the best option.

^ Personally, I'd pick NYU over GMU. The GMU "Austrians" are a bit iffy about their own Austrianism. At NYU, at least you get to deal with real Austrians as well as with people from other schools of thought. Having your ideas challenged is the best way to learn.

I don't have a picture of Picard, so I am just going to say it. Facepalm. Do you realize how many fucking universities and colleges there are in this country. I wasn't insulting any of those. There aint a goddamn thing wrong with them, and I know that several of them are VERY good.

I simply said that normally, and this is being said from someone who has atteneded three schools with no Austrians or at least closet ones...you have to settle for Chicago school thinking and monetarist ideas concerning the free-market.

What I said was not contentious. It was not an insult. It was common sense.

Sincerely,

Slutter McGee
