View Full Version : Action Alert: Ask SRLC to invite Ron Paul as a speaker

This is a repost from the Daily Paul, not sure if it hasn't been posted here already:

SRLC is probably as large or larger than CPAC, and it's the largest convention until the 2012 RNCC convention.

http://www.srlc2010.com/speakers

It's this April, and Ron Paul is not a speaker.

Please email them and request that he be included

info@srlc2010.com

It's annoying that they would not invite the CPAC 2010 winner to their convention.

Also I don't understand why the former Governor or California is at a Southern Republican conference. Whatever.

Or a resigned ex-governor of Alaska for that matter.

I figured that there would be plenty of emails demanding Ron Paul to speak there, so I wrote one with a bit of fibbing in it.

You might want to delete some of that in case the person reading the emails gets curious enough to Google it and find out where the barrage of emails is coming from.

After looking at the list of speakers, I'm of the belief that I have a better chance of winning the lottery this week than Ron Paul speaking at this conference. That said, I'll e-mail them later this week and ask that they invite him, I don't want them to think they are getting attacked by a bunch of "Ronbots."

I just emailed a polite request to see Ron Paul invited to speak.

The important thing on this will be to CONTINUE to keep up pressure over the next few weeks.

If the SRLC gets 150 emails today followed by... nothing... they're gonna blow it off.

This is a good idea. Anyone have the phone number? Making a few phone calls would probably be more effective than emails.

I just called their main number and spoke with Sean. He told me he had gotten over 100 emails from us asking that Ron be invited.

He told me, and I quote, "We are working on inviting Ron Paul."

I told him that Dr. Paul is busy, but I would imagine he'd make time to come.

Sean concluded by telling me that he hopes "that Ron Paul will be able to come."

He sounded sincere.

I wonder though, if they do a straw poll, what percentage of the crowd is neo-con?

It's just a few hours drive from Ron Paul's district.

As soon as we know that Ron Paul is invited, we need to know if C4L is going to launch a CPAC-scale GOTV operation or if it will be all up to us to organize this.

To get an idea of how many of us it will take to deliver a victory for Ron, George W Bush won with 201 votes in 1998 ( http://www.nationaljournal.com/srlc/d.html ) and Bill Frist won with 526 votes in 2006 ( http://hotlineoncall.nationaljournal.com/archives/2006/03/srlc_straw_poll_1.php ). The straw poll is only held mid-term when a Republican presidential primary will be contested.

It's $120 bucks just to vote....just so you know. It's like 600 to attend.

This an insiders convention.

But I still think Paul should go speak if he can.

Hey, with SRLC, Values Voters, CPAC 2011, Ames IA 2011, and a gazillion smaller straw polls coming up in 2011, how about a "Winning Straw Polls" sub-forum? That way when people see a thread with a subject such as this one's, they know the ultimate goal being discussed is the winning of straw polls.

This an insiders convention.

Price-wise, it's no more of an insider's convention than CPAC, which was $200 per non-student vote (but only $50 per student) and $600 for the works. That's why we need to know if C4L is going to get involved in this.

If not, then we're looking at raising at least $50k (~400 votes) ourselves if we want to win this. We'd need some sort of moneybomb-like pledge site where we could tell if the goal is attainable before committing to making donations. (I'd be willing to donate a lot of money for people to attend, but only if I know enough other people are as well to ensure success.)

hopefully the insiders get a clue real quick;) doesn't hurt to have a crowd outside 10 times larger then inside shouting Ron Paul 2012, to inspire the insiders into some common sense:)

I'm sure something like that is in the works.

Or they may limit straw poll voting to 6am-7am Saturday morning so that all the LOLA partiers are too hung over to vote :D

A friend of mine on facebook called and said this:

"I just got off the phone with the SRLC. They said that they have invited Ron Paul. They just have not confirmed or announced that he will be speaking as of yet. The lady on the other end said at that however his name will be on the Straw Poll. So that is reason enough for me to go!"

I think he dialed this number: 225-753-3549

Here's the facebook page where he said it: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Reminding-the-establishment-that-Ron-Paul-won-the-straw-poll-at-CPAC/323308183307?ref=ts

A friend of mine and I have started talking about a website idea for organizing a GOTV operation at SRLC if C4L does not take this on. (It's just talk at this point, so don't let this discourage anyone else from working on something similar--we don't have much time.) I'm thinking about a theme for the website and "Battle of New Orleans" is an obvious possibility.

I know that many Ron Paul supporters believe that John McCain's forces cheated Ron Paul out of a victory in Louisiana in 2008 but the details regarding the very convoluted caucus and primary process there have escaped me. Can anyone point me to some credible articles, news reports, posts etc that make the case for Louisiana having been stolen from us? I'd like the website to re-kindle our anger over this to help drive Ron's many 2008 supporters in Louisiana to New Orleans for the SRLC.

It is essential we get him to this event. RP winning the straw poll gave us millions in publicity. It was easily worth it as will be winning SRLC. I think a money bomb is a great idea to get people there and hopefully they have a student discount. We need to see if CFL is organizing it so we know if we can volunteer with them to offset cost as well.
