This is an e-mail my parents received from the pastor of their church (http://summitconnect.org/) in Orlando yesterday:
We wanted to let you know that early this morning, a Certified Concealed Weapons Safety Course took place inside the Summit Church building in an upstairs conference room. This course was not held by Summit. We allowed use of the building for the training due to the fact that no other class or event was taking place at the scheduled time. A few of the course participants are attendees of Summit Church.
The licensed and insured instructor (not a Summit attendee) accidentally discharged his weapon, and shot a participant (a Summit attendee) in the foot. The participant, who is an adult male, was taken to Florida Hospital. No one else was hurt.
Those are the facts. We wanted you to hear them from us first.
We plan to:
a.) Pray for the fellow who was injured.
b.) Not host anymore concealed weapons safety courses.
That's all we are looking forward to worship tomorrow.
God Bless,
The Leadership Team Summit Church
