A pretty good write up to show to liberals. A glimmer of hope/potential I'd say.

I have no idea what site this is, I only saw it because it was the number three result when searching "ron paul" in google news.

Ron Paul’s Agenda Better for Progressives than Obama’s?

By: jbade Saturday February 20, 2010 3:23 pm

The following comparisons between Obama and Paul on the issues of import; civil liberty(s), war/defense, health care reform, financial reform, monetary policy/jobs, makes a strong case that Paul is the better choice for progressives.

I will start with the the easy one, Civil Liberty. Paul vehemently opposes the Patriot Act, domestic spying, renditions, optional habeas. THE OPPOSITE OF OBAMA (a constitutional lawyer). Paul speaks of the biggest civil liberty violation of our day,the disproportionate incarceration of black men in our prisons. He would act to stop it. NOT OBAMA! On don’t ask don’t tell "treat gays the same as straights"– pretty progressive.

On the wars. Obama has escalated troop deployment dramatically, private contractors dramatically, threatens Iran, no change on the Palestinian conflict, 17 new bases in Columbia and dramatically increases military spending ect, with a stay the course attitude. Ron Paul’s anti-war, bring em home clarion call has been loud and consistent. For those of us that understand that they don’t attack us because we are "free and rich" Ron Paul’s citation of the facts that incited the hatred are so essential to the conversation that will lead to a peaceful tomorrow. The FACT that not a single politician other than Paul would tell the American people "they attack us because we are over there…if you think that we can do what we want around the world and not incite hatred… we’ve got a problem" is a profile in courage!! he is a superhero to those of us who know that 90% of war deaths are civilians and that following the constitution would have precluded those wars or at least dramatically shortened them.

On health care reform. I am a single-payer advocate. I would not support Paul’s position on health care if single could be achieved, or anything that could make substantial steps toward that goal. But, the best deal Obama is offering you is a bitter mandate sandwich, smothered in corporate greed and not a sprinkle of necessary cost control. RON PAUL would use the money from bringing the troops home to help fund medical cares. We understand that the government supports the health care industry against the people. We are given the worst, not the best, of the private/government interaction. It would have to get better under the free market(re import drugs/competition not anti-trust) it could not get worse.

On financial reform. All the masses of regulations out there–none of it helped. Corporations have paid to have it that way. Now, more regulation is going to help? You guys know where Obama is on this reform, supporting the status quo. Ron Paul wants the fraud laws enacted (why not), break down the Corporatocracy and to end the fed, the true culprit in the looting of America. OBAMA OPPOSES,and wants more power for the fed. Obama and Bush made the to big to fail bigger!! RON PAUL would have let them all fail and many would have gone to jail, their assets bought at a market price and the down turn severe but short. Instead, the vasts sums of money throw at the Banks will lead to a decade of anemic growth. Obama’s(Bush’s)main focus has always been to preserve the status quo, irrespective of the damage to the American people.

On monetary policy/jobs. The policies that have been adopted by the corporatist in both parties are fully supported by Obama. Obama has adopted the same monetary policy as Bush. The same people who caused the crises are retained or promoted in the Obama administration. they are continuing the same top down policies of the parties. RON PAUL gave very clear warnings, citing cause and effect, of the crises and has been prophetically correct. He offers a different course that brings the military home and uses the savings for social programs. Would let housing prices fall to a level where Americans can buy them, rather than transfer wealth from us to bankers. This is the the only way to save this country from economic collapse. That should be supported by progressives, in light of the options.I can see a course to a better day with Paul’s Plan. Can you envision that with what Obama proposes?

Please consider these two men and their policies a pro/con analysis. Ron Paul has alot to offer the progressive community. Please address all meritless calls of racism to Dennis Kucinich, who chose Ron Paul is his first selection for a Vice Presidential running mate.

Yes and for pro liberties libs and conservs and the rest. Progressives could wake up one day to find out that Obama was a neocon plant done in a classic bait n switch.

Basically, when Paul talks about civil liberties and foreign policy, he is sincere, unlike President Obama. Also, they like his Fed proposals.
