Senator DeMint's Senate Conservatives Fund is deciding who to support for Senate in Indiana. They are leaning towards a neo-conservative (Stutzman). Hostettler seems to be the preferred Liberty candidate in this race.

See this thread for more info on Hostettler:

Indiana Senator Evan Bayh (D) announced today that he will not seek re-election this year, a decision that hands conservatives a prime pickup opportunity.

We are moving the Indiana Senate race onto our 2010 Watch List. We are also launching a new online poll to see which candidate our members believe is the best conservative in the race.

Former Senator Dan Coats (R) and former Congressman John Hostettler (R) have the highest name ID of the candidates currently in the race, but they also have their drawbacks. Coats hasn't lived in Indiana for over a decade, he's a Washington, DC lobbyist, and he has a mixed record on the 2nd Amendment. Hostettler was defeated by a Democrat in 2006 and some conservatives have taken issue with his opposition to the Iraq War.

There is another candidate in the race named Marlin Stutzman (R) who is not as well-known but has a compelling story and appears to be gaining momentum. Stutzman is a fourth-generation family farmer and a state senator. He supports true budget reform, is anti-tax, pro-2nd Amendment, and 100% pro-life.

Erick Erickson, the editor of the conservative website RedState.com, recently announced his support for Stutzman. Stutzman could become the candidate conservatives and Tea Party activists unite behind.

Before we make a an endorsement in this race, we want to know what you think. Click here to read more about the candidates and then vote in our online poll so we know who you support in Indiana's May 4 Republican primary.

This is a push poll, they probably already decided to support Stutz.

Probably. But if enough people vote for Hostettler and make it close, they may decide not to endorse anyone. They have certainly done that in a lot of races.

Hostettler only has 346 votes right now. We should be able to double that!

348. Please vote, even with a fake email. They haven't emailed me to verify. Saying you live in Indiana=good. Stutzman is going to win, but making it close might make them hesitant.

I voted but didnt really look to see how much Stutz was winning by. I just noticed his bar way ahead of everybody else. Hostettler has some catching up to do.

From what I've heard, Hostettler would be MUCH better than anyone else here.... I think this is worth a few minutes, but we need a lot more votes!

Just voted for Hostettler.

Hostettler 365, Stutzman 2895

Where the heck is Stutzman getting all his votes?? I live in Indiana and I've never heard of him!

EDIT: Ah, I see. I just noticed he was endorsed by the head of RedState.com, who is now doing a lot of cheerleading for the guy.

Just voted for Hostettler.

Hostettler 365, Stutzman 2895

Resurrecting an old thread. This was our last chance to possibly prevent DeMint from supporting Stutzman and splitting the anti-Coats vote...we couldn't win the online poll at SCF. :(

You guys are being too pessimistic. This race is definitely not over.

Yep, not over yet. Hopefully the anti-Coats voters will realize that Hostettler is the one who can win...

Stutzman 100% prolife stance = Demint support

Even though Demint has his good sides his ultra religous stance and support of midle east intervention make him a deeply flawed legilsator in my eyes.
