The Conservative Political Action Conference faced criticism (http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/cpac-consciously-providing-ammo-to-critics/) for allowing the controversial group known as the John Birch Society to become a co-sponsor this year. JBS was renounced by conservative icon William F. Buckley (http://www.commentarymagazine.com/viewarticle.cfm/goldwater--the-john-birch-society--and-me-11248) and has been called racist as well as anti-Semitic. The group, however, strongly disagrees (http://www.jbs.org/jbs-news-feed/1717-racism-and-the-john-birch-society). This brings us to the JBS booth at CPAC (photo above). Is this JBS or a 1970's beverage commercial full of hippies on a hilltop? I want to buy the world a Coca-Cola or something. (Video below)

Spreading Lies...

Washington Times fails to point out that the John Birch Society has a Jewish National Council member.

David Eisenberg (http://www.jbs.org/john-birch-society-national-council)

http://www.jbs.org/images/stories/Article_Images/JBS_Leaders/eisenberg_sm.jpg

David Eisenberg was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1926. After his family relocated to southern California, he received his early education in Los Angeles schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the latter stages of World War II.

Dave graduated from Inglewood, California’s Northrop University with a degree in aeronautical engineering in 1948. The specialized training he received enabled him to obtain employment in one of our nation’s up-and-coming industries. Upon graduation, he began a brilliant 40-year career as a project engineer for the Hughes Aircraft Company at a southern California plant and later transferred to its Tucson, Arizona, facility in 1956. He retired in 1988.

In the early 1960s, Dave, who is Jewish, launched a determined personal effort to combat the work of The John Birch Society, having been assured by many that it was anti-Semitic. He carefully examined many of the Society’s materials and eventually met with some members. Upon learning the truth, he became a proud member and has since been a fearless and effective voice against false charges hurled at our organization. Appointed to the JBS Council in 1995, he resides with his wife, Natalie, in Tucson, Arizona.

So they bitch if people use black people in their ads, and they would certainly bitch if they didn't use black people in their ads.

I think I see a pattern here. They like to bitch about nothing.

The end of newspapers can't come quick enough for me.

The Mass Media loves to attack the John Birch Society whenever they can.

Scary!

To bring about less government, more responsibility, and - with God's help - a better world by providing leadership, education, and organized volunteer action in accordance with moral and Constitutional principles.

The John Birch Society at CPAC (http://www.jbs.org/jbs-news-feed/5990-the-john-birch-society-at-cpac)

Chris Bentley | John Birch Society (http://www.jbs.org/)
18 February 2010

Well, the John Birch Society made it to CPAC. The only apparent gridlock in this city at the moment is the traffic. Wow! What a mess. It took nearly 90 minutes to drive 12 miles into Washington. The street curbs are piled high with snow (more evidence of man-made global warming), and any two-lane roads have effectively been turned into one-lane roads.

Anyway, we arrived safe and sound at the Marriot Wardman Park Hotel, set up our booth on Wednesday, and already began to attract attention. One Washington Times reporter asked to take a picture of our booth as it was still under construction. We smiled and said yes. Then staff member Sam Antonio chimed in and told her to be sure and come back tomorrow, as we would have the best looking booth here. And, he added, with a little humor, “it will be the most controversial to boot.” She smirked and responded that we already are controversial.

On Thursday as we arrived to start the day’s events, the Marriott was already teeming with thousand of visitors. We’ve had many curious attendees stop by already, even though the day is barely half over. Some visitors have been congressional candidates from across the country, others from media. Some notable personalities have included such diverse individuals as Jerome Corsi and Rachel Maddow. Ms. Maddow even gave us an informal six-minute interview/discussion.

The New American’s Senior Editor Bill Jasper spent 20 minutes on Phil Valentine’s radio show (http://philvalentine.com/).

Regarding the event so far, when I asked Director of Marketing Larry Greenley about the experience, he said: “After just a half day working in the exhibit, it’s hard to believe that we’ve taken so long to have an exhibit at CPAC. We’re meeting a lot of attendees that already have a lot of connections with JBS, but more importantly a lot of young people are stopping in and learning what the JBS is and does. The new literature piece ‘Discover The John Birch Society,’ that we created for our CPAC exhibit is very well received. It provides an excellent way for our booth personnel to quickly introduce what the mission, principles, and major campaigns of the JBS are.”

Jim Capo, a JBS coordinator for Virginia and the Carolinas, commented: “A whole new generation of freedom fighters is figuring out that The John Birch Society is ‘the original and the best.’”

Andy Dlinn, a section leader in Pennsylvania, said, “it was refreshing to see the constant flow of folks thirsting for the Constitutional limited government education offered by the JBS. Since the moment I walked into the booth, it has been a non-stop talkfest with positive results and everyone wanting trial subscriptions to The New American magazine (http://www.shopjbs.org/index.php/tna/subscriptions.html).”

Wes Thompson, a volunteer member from Pennsylvania remarked, “It’s always fun to introduce people to something they’ve heard about, but didn’t understand. The response has been very positive. I haven’t had a single negative response. I’ve talked with people who are very happy to see us here. And I’ve talked to a lot of younger people who didn’t know anything about us other than the name.”

We’re having lots of fun talking to a whole generation of people thirsty for solutions to the nation’s problems. Our message of limited government under the Constitution and free-market economics, always timeless, has never been more timely.

The return of fear and smear to politics (http://www.seattlepi.com/connelly/415586_joel19.html?source=mypi)

Seattle PI
February 18

LIES:

Ugly racial language is staging a comeback. Wacko theories are again heard. The John Birch Society -- yes, the people who called President Eisenhower a "dedicated, conscious agent of the communist conspiracy" -- is a proud sponsor of CPAC.

TRUTH:

1.) Racial? The John Birch Society isn't racist.

2.) The John Birch Society didn't call Eisenhower a Communist. Robert Welch, the founder wrote an unpublished document criticizing all the errors and unconstitutional actions Eisenhower was making. Robert Welch expressed a personal opinion near the end of the book about Eisenhower.

"But my firm belief that Dwight Eisenhower is a dedicated, conscious agent of the Communist conspiracy is based on an accumulation of detailed evidence so extensive and so palpable that it seems to me to put this conviction beyond any reasonable doubt."

Larry McDonald talks about the "Eisenhower communist" smear against the John Birch Society.

the entire article is a hit piece on the liberty movement.

Though it hasn't attracted wide attention, nothing Mrs. Palin has done recently has been worthier of notice than her endorsement of Rand Paul, now running in Kentucky's GOP senate primary. Dr. Paul, an opthamologist and radical libertarian, holds views on national security and defense that have much in common with those of the far left. Not to mention those of the considerable body of conspiracy theorists, antigovernment zealots, 9/11 truthers, and assorted other cadres of the obsessed and deranged who flocked to the presidential candidacy of his father Ron Paul, the congressman from Texas.
