Are there any liberty candidate prospects for the 2010 race against the perpetual incumbent Democrat Congressman Rick Boucher? The 9th district covers all of SWVa.

There are two that have filed according to the Green Papers
one is Republican Jim Bebout(no websight)
the other is Independent Jeremiah David Heaton http://www.heatonforcongress.com/ he has raised about 16,000 so far.
not sure how liberty related they are; havent checked them out

After a quick scan Heaton looks to have some potential. I'd like some more info about him if anyone digs it up!

Heads up guys; the 9th District Republicans are going for a convention in May; there are reportedly 4 or 5 candidates; but none of them have filed with the FEC and only one with the state board.

I don't know if any of these men could justifiably bear the label of "liberty candidate" but here are some other candidates:
David Moore: http://www.resistnet.com/group/vacongressionaldistrict9repfrederickboucher/forum/topics/david-moore-for-congress?xg_source=activity
Adam Light: http://www.resistnet.com/group/vacongressionaldistrict9repfrederickboucher/forum/topics/adam-n-light-for-congress
Jessee Ring: http://www.resistnet.com/group/vacongressionaldistrict9repfrederickboucher/forum/topics/jessee-ring-for-congress
...and another potential candidate, Morgan Griffith: http://www.roanoke.com/politics/wb/237365
Anyone here know anything about these guys?

Stay away from Griffith; he's been in office a while.....no good can come of that.... check out some of the legislation he's sponsored since 1994

Guess this CFL member decided not to file.
I've exchanged PMs with him in the past. He said that he was going to be at townhall meetings and other events, but I never saw him. And believe me, he would have seen me.

My husband David is running for Congress to represent "The Fighting 9th", district of Virginia. His website is:
Please call him at 276-970-3163 or e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions you might have. He is a strict Constitutionalist and I think you will find he is the best candidate to beat Rick Boucher in November.
Obviously, I am biased but he speaks from the heart and is a truly honorable man. Once you speak to him or listen to him speak you will see what I mean. A very common thing he hears from people after his speeches is,"Wow you're the real deal!". He is not a career politician and doesn't read from a prepared speech. What you see is what you get with Dave which is a rare find in politics.
We hope to get your support and look forward to protecting the liberties of SW Virginia and our nation in Washington D.C.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Watch out Obama "Change" is coming in 2010!

I've checked out David's platform and it looks good; I do have several inquiries; where does he stand on the following issues.
04-04-2010, 07:44 AM
On the Real ID issue Dave is opposed to any form of national identification period.
On the Patriot Act issue he is opposed to all elements that infringe on our personal liberties which would include the Patriot Act.
As Benjamin Franklin said,"Those who would give up/trade liberty for temporary security deserve neither".
You can talk to Dave personally if you'd like at 276-970-3163 or e-mail him at email@example.com . He is more than happy to answer any questions you might have.
We have been told by many that this primary race has become a race between Dave and Morgan Griffith. At this point they say as long as we can prove we can get as much money as Mr. Griffith, Dave will win this primary and go on to defeat Mr Boucher in November. So our goal in these last delegate meetings will be to persuade them of that. The RNC and RPV have announced they will fully support which ever candidate gets the nomination which is heartening. We will now go to local business owners and try and get donations. After speaking with Dave I hope you can spread the word amongst the Liberty camp and help us generate support. David Moore for Congress!

I know of several strong endorsements for David good luck.

I've read that Griffith has the nomination locked up. Is this true?
05-19-2010, 07:05 PM
No, but if you read the papers you might think so lol. The convention is this Saturday. Griffith's people are on campaign overdrive for a reason. This will not be the easy nomination he had hoped for. There is a very real chance he could lose. We shall see.
05-22-2010, 10:53 PM
heard on Facebook H. Morgan Griffith; long time incumbent in the state house won. Tazewell Patriot can you give us any details?
05-23-2010, 07:17 AM
Griffith got 50.8% Moore got 33.7 Light got between 10 and 11% Ring got about 5% and Roop 1% . Carr dropped out at the convention to support Moore. If Griffith wouldn't have gotten that one extra vote they would have dropped off the lowest candidate and did a re-vote. There would be a whole different story in the papers. Such is life. Time to move on. It was very exciting hearing the Moore! Moore! Moore! chanting of the audience though. He has very strong support. Four of Griffith's supporters said if Griffith didn't win in the first round they were switching to Dave. That would have been 6 or 7 delegate votes. If only...... I honestly believe Moore is the best chance at defeating Boucher but maybe Griffith can do it. Boucher has got to go.

I'm sorry to hear that Griffith won.
I e-mailed independent candidate Jeremiah Heaton with some questions. See how he responded:
Thank you for your email. I am very sorry it has taken so long to respond.
I read your email the day you sent it but for some reason I failed to
In reviewing our recent emails, my staff realized the error.
1. What role does the Constitution play in the government of the U.S.
This is my job description as US Representative. Article 1, Section 8.
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts
and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and
general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises

and with the Indian Tribes;

United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of
the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the
discipline prescribed by Congress;
To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such

shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and
other needful Buildings; And
To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into
Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this

Everything not covered here belongs to the STATES!!!
2. What role does "democracy" play in the government of the U.S. and its
Democracy is Government of the people and by the people. NOT Government of
the Corporation by the Corporation.
3. Do you support HR 1207 for a full and transparent audit of the Federal
YES, YES, YES.... But, opening the books on the Fed will 'scare' the
international markets and that is when the dollar will reset. Once you
open the books on the Fed you must commit to following through with ending
4. What are your thoughts on Rick Boucher's rationale for voting against
the recently passed healthcare bill?
Rick is attempting to cover his bases....Insurance Reform is needed...but
the monster Congress passed goes very far beyond that. Rick voted
correctly...however it is clear that it was only for political reasons.
5. Do you foresee an economic crisis similar to what is happening in Greece
in our country's future? If so, what should the federal government do (if
anything) to prevent such a thing from happening here?
Yes, we are in trouble... no fiat currency has lasted over 100 years. We
have 3 years until we reach the 100 year anniversary of the creation of
the Fed. The only hope is to abandon a debt based economy and drive the
international bankers out of the currency creation business.....in lay
person terms....End the Fed.
Thank you for your questions. I hope I have answered them to your
I look forward to serving you and the people of the 9th.
With Highest Regards,

Sadly, Heaton has not done much to get his campaign off the ground. His website is not frequently updated: http://www.heatonforcongress.com
Also, his campaign doesn't seem to be very engaged at all in social networking sites. Needless to say his "viability" is in serious question.
Thoughts? Has anyone seen any activity from him in the district otherwise?

Boucher voted against healthcare so he will win. That is my thought.
