Producers in talks with Charlize Theron to possibly adapt this as a mini-series.

Last I heard it was Angelina Jolie that was interested in the part for a movie.

I hope they do make a movie, that way I never have to read the long-ass book.

I wonder if it'll ever be official.

Once you get pass about 200 pages, it gets easier... :) at least try The Fountainhead, it's a bit shorter.

I prefer they do a mini-series and hopefully on HBO. It would be awesome if it received the same production quality as John Adams, Rome, etc... The Fountainhead was turned into a movie in the late 40's and that was a disappointment because so much had to be cut out. With Atlas being twice as long I can't even imagine it being turned into a movie.

I've never noticed that! Funny thing was when this episode aired, I had no idea what Atlas Shrugged was. Too bad they pronounced "Ayn" as Anne instead of Ian. I guess it's a common mistake.

Most of those actors wouldn't play secondary roles...Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin...

Before your next long car trip (or if you have a long commute to work), pick up the audio version at the library (my library has it on CD or can download it to an MP3 player). It starts a bit slow, but you won't regret it. It'll also take your mind off the car trip.

I heard they are also making The Moon is a Harsh Mistress into a movie...we'll see how that goes.

You mean that's not how it's pronounced? NOOOOOOOOOOO! Shame and humiliation upon me!

Matthew McConaughey would absolutely butcher that part. I'd tear my eyes out before watching that jackass play Galt.

That all depends on how you pronounce "Ian". If you go with the more common way, as Ian McKellen does (ee-un), you would be wrong. If you go with the less common way, as Ian Ziering does (eye-un), you would be pretty close to correct.

Ayn = Eye-n

I think I agree with you :) Can't say I'm crazy about Daniel Craig for Rearden, either! No, I think Not....

He plays a cold, semi-sociopath quite well. That's Hank Rearden's character in a nutshell. I thought it was a hell of a choice.

Even if Angelina isn't in it, I think Brad Pitt ought to play John Galt. He did such a great job as Tyler Durden, a similar, if more violent, character.

I'm just wondering. If you see Hank Rearden as a "cold, semi-sociopath", what's your view of Ellsworth Toohey ?

(To be clear, I couldn't agree with you less about Rearden.)

It'll be great as long as they cast genuine talent for the roles and not just a bunch of trendy, pretty faces (Jolie, Pitt, etc.) I'm thinking maybe Willem Dafoe as Hank Rearden, Kevin Spacey as Jim Taggart, and Julianne Moore as Dagny Taggart. What do y'all think?

I like ALL of these. Very good choices, very good actors.
