I'll have to remember this when the police unleash the swat dogs on me ;)

Just imagine,

Cop: "Sick em boy!" (dog starts viciously chasing me)
Me: "SIT" (dog stops immidiately and looks for me to give him a treat)

I believe the correct terms are sitz! or platz! I doubt it will work if the pooch is comin at you to taste your arm.

you're not giving dogs enough credit. they're actually quite brilliant, and can slice one second a million different ways... they're also loyal friends of any that they recognize (or think they recognize) as belonging to the pack. just something to consider.
