View Full Version : Ron Paul needs a signature song

I've just been watching the Chris Matthews interview on MSNBC. No matter what your feelings are about the man, he made a very interesting point. He explained that many presidential hopefuls in the past have had songs that brought people to rally around their candidate, and today there was not one candidate with a song. Made covering the campaigns boring.

Can someone in charge of this campaign with authority pick one for us please?:)

Here's a few more words:

RON PAUL REVOLUTION

You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
Ron Paul wants to change the world
It's all about the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don' t you know it's gonna be Ron Paul
Ron Paul, Ron Paul

You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
Ron Paul is the only man
He asks us for a contribution
We're all doin' what we can
But when you want money
for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be Ron Paul
Ron Paul, Ron Paul

You say you'll change the Constitution
Well, you know
Ron Paul's gonna vote you down
If you love the Constitution
Well, you know
You better vote for Dr. Paul
But if you go votin' for anyone else
You ain't got no one to blame but yourself
Don't you know it' gonna be Ron Paul
Ron Paul, Ron Paul
Ron Paul, Ron Paul, Ron Paul
Ron Paul, RON PAUL, RON PAUL!

(With respect to John, Paul, George and Ringo)

We should all take our favorite songs and write new Ron Paul lyrics and post them here.

It's one of my favorites. It has a good message. "What kind of world do you want? Be careful what you wish for, history starts now!"

I looked up the lyrics, this is so close... they have the right idea, but .... it doesn't say freedom enough, and it has an unfortunate title. we don't need more accusations about that now, do we? but a great brainstorming idea, have any others? is there something from the movie Braveheart?

Isis, So Did We

Our Skin Worn Thin
Our Bones Exposed
Life Reduced to Ticks

From Forest Caves and azure Skies
We Chrashed upon this Earth
The Years, they passed and so did we
Yet, Resistance would be formed

Seems fitting on how the government stripped us away of our Constutional right and now we have formed into something bigger than that.

Of course they shouldnt make it their song, it just rings true to me

Just imagine if he could get Hulk Hogan to walk with him to a few campaign events with that music playing!!!!

For What It's Worth - Buffalo Springfield

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

For all the young' ens on here that are working for thier future:

from Bowie's Changes

I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence and
So the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're going through

someone should press up a record of ron paul songs and use the proceeds to fund the campaign.

just 1000$ pressing could sell for 10$ and provide 10k in campaign donation

MOTHER FREEDOM - BREAD (Classic 70's rock song)

Freedom - keep walkin'
Keep on your toesand don't stop talkin' 'bout
Freedom - get goin'
Lots to be learned and lots to be knowin' 'bout
People - gotta reach 'em
Sit 'em right down and then you gotta teach 'em 'bout
Freedom - gotta win it
Gotta put yourself smack dab in it

Hey tomorrow
Now don't you go away
'Cause freedom
Just might come your way

Freedom - keep tryin'
People stay alive and people keep dyin' for
Freedom - so don't lose it
Ya gotta understand ya just can't abuse it
Freedom - get movin'
Never gonna stop till everybody's groovin' on
Love for - one another
Callin' some friend and callin' some brother

Hey tomorrow
You're not so far away
Mother freedom
we'll know you well someday

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DqY8iIxe2c

Tonight's the night the world begins again...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55mnPm-s-io

And then there is...

People Got To Be Free

All the world over, so easy to see
People everywhere just wanna be free
Listen, please listen, that's the way it should be
Peace in the valley, people got to be free

You should see what a lovely, lovely world this'd be
If everyone learned to live together
Seems to me such an itty bitty thing should be
Why can't you and me learn to love one another?

All the world over, so easy to see
People everywhere just wanna be free
I can't understand it, so simple to me
People everywhere just got to be free

If there's a man who is down and needs a helpin' hand
All it takes is you to understand and to pull him through
Seems to me we got to solve it individually
And I'll do unto you what you do to me

Shout it from the mountain on out to the sea
No two ways about it, people have to be free
Ask me my opinion, my opinion will be
Nat'ral situation for a man to be free

Git right on board now

Oh, what a feelin's just come over me
Love can move a mountain, make a blind man see
Everybody sing it now come on let's go see
Peace in the valley now, we ought to be free

Muse "Knights of Cydonia" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jV1bRfLHA3A)

The music video has such a great story of an underdog defeating a tyrant. The lyrics might come a bit too close to paranoid, but I think the song would be a great rallying cry.

"And how can we win
When fools can be kings
Don't waste your time
Or time will waste you"

"No one's gonna take me alive
The time has come to make things right
You and I must fight for our rights
You and I must fight to survive"

Though your brother's bound and gagged
And they've chained him to a chair
Won't you please come to Chicago
Just to sing
In a land that's known as freedom
How can such a thing be fair
Won't you plaese come to Chicago
For the help we can bring
We can change the world -
Re-arrange the world
It's dying - to get better
Politicians sit yourself down,
There's nothing for you here
Won't you please come to Chicago
For a ride
Don't ask Jack to help you
Cause he'll turn the other ear
Won't you please come to Chicago
Or else join the other side
We can change the world -
Re-arrange the world
It's dying - if you believe in justice
It's dying - and if you believe in freedom
It's dying - let a man live it's own life
It's dying - rules and regulations, who needs them
Open up the door
Somehow people must be free
I hope the day comes soon
Won't you please come to Chicago
Show your face
From the bottom to the ocean
To the mountains of the moon
Won't you please come to Chicago
No one else can take your place
We can change the world -
Re-arrange the world
It's dying - if you believe in justice
It's dying - and if you believe in freedom
It's dying - let a man live it's own life
It's dying - rules and regulations, who needs them
Open up the door
We can change the world

Well, I suppose we need a Hawaiian Submission...

This is a paraphrase of a song by Hawaii's most beloved musician
The late Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

E ala e
~~~~~~~~~~~~
We the voices behind the face
Of a new revolution in these United States
Rise for Justice the day has come
For all The People to stand as one
E ala ea ea ea ea,
e ala ea ea ea
Can you hear it, can you see
Patriotism rising up
from sea to shining sea
Forget the neo cons and libs
There's a Hope for America
Be a part of it
E ala ea, ea ea ea,
e ala ea ea ea
We the warriors born to save
The gifts our founding fathers gave
Defend our birthright to be free
Give our children Liberty
E ala ea, ea ea ea,
e ala ea ea ea
Can you hear it, can you see
Patriotism rising up
from sea to shining sea
Forget the neo cons and libs
There's a Hope for America
Be a part of it
E ala ea, ea ea ea,
