Yeah I'm pretty sure if Chris Matthews actually wanted people in Texas to dislike Medina he would have to come out in support of her. The fact that he's bothering to attack her at all will get Medina the "at-least-she-pisses-off-all-the-right-people" vote.

That is exactly what I was thinking -- people in Tx will say "wow, Chris Matthews hates her? She must be doing something right!"

It's funny that one of the pundits say the Texas debate crowd isn't the most "diverse crowd", yet every host on MSNBC is white.

Nevermind that the 1st successful use of nullification was to nullify the Fugitive Slave Laws, thereby giving escaped slaves the hope of freedom by making it into the northern States which had nullified the Federal Law. If it weren't for nullification, there would have been no underground railroad. Nullification has done more to free the black man than to oppress him. Chris Matthews is a liar and a shill!

Man I wish I could have been their. See, this is what I hate. At least when they have one person with a differing opinion surrounded by 3 opponents on these shows you have that point of view at least party represented. Yet, they act as if those opinions are SSOOO crazy that they don't even bother to have someone defend them. I like how they stuck MLK in their as the cherry on top. The gun thing made me upset. Whoever the gov. of Texas is, I have to say based on that comment, I am impressed.

P.S. Ron Paul was right, the freedom message brings people together. It seems like the only thing Reps and Dems can agree on is how "dumb" they think the freedom message really is.

I have honestly not seen a great answer to the "nullification allowed slavery" beyond the fact that nullification helped slaves escape to the north. I think the best is that you don't have the fed over the states or the states over the fed outlined, but rather have them kinda separate but equal. Let the clash of ideas prove the winner.

I think she was on MSNBC before GE needed a bailout. I just recognized her because she used to be on Fox Chicago and was delightful to watch in the morning (maybe not listen to though).

Chris is right: Texas isn't very diverse... we only have browns, blacks, whites, americans of asian decent, european decent middle-eastern decent (democratic governor candidate?) and Austin...

Medina needs to release a statement thanking Chris Matthews for the endorsement...

and I'm not going back to look, but whoever said earlier in this thread that they don't know who Texas' governor is but they're impressed: Gov. Perry = not impressive

Yes Matthews is a crazed racist. It's on his mind 24/7. So automatically for him if anyone was given freedom they would become slave owing racists. Matthews is filth, people like him create racial divides by spewing that kind of garbage.

His logic is if people are given freedom they will immediately become evil racists. What a complete joke and moron. That is the worst argument I have ever heard against secession/nullification. You can't even have a logical discussion with a person like that.

Secession is very legitamate, and I support it.

Chris Matthews is a racist because he said that he did not want to read "the whole thing" when referring to MLK's speech. He specifically stated that he HAS to read the whole thing, as if it was not worthy of being completed. Therefore, Chris Matthews is a racist.

What would Matthews ever have to talk about, if not racism? And he and his panel seriously stated that nullification discussions are about promoting racism? Seriously? Not forced health care, not forced federal stimulus funds spending (with strings attached like always), not forced cap and trade nonsense (in an oil rich area)...but racism? Go fuck yourself Chris.

"Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans only as members of groups and never as individuals. Racists believe that all individuals who share superficial physical characteristics are alike; as collectivists, racists think only in terms of groups. By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called 'diversity' actually perpetuate racism. Their intense focus on race is inherently racist, because it views individuals only as members of racial groups. Modern liberalism, however well-intentioned, is a byproduct of the same collectivist thinking that characterizes racism. The continued insistence on group thinking only inflames racial tensions." - Ron Paul, 2007

It is a great quote. The media and state education apparatus like to paint us as the racists for asserting our Constitutional and Natural Rights. However, they are the racists when they support or impose unconstitutional affirmative action or racial quotas or demonize a group of people who share a political affinity because of the color of their skin.
