Well... Letterman supported Ron Paul in '88, so maybe he'll at least get RP on the Late Show this time around.

I took the Letterman support as a joke. A talk show host is not going to alienate half his fans, so he jokingly said that he supports Ron Paul.

Try to get him on Conan instead. I'm sure the viewership is lower, but it's still good. Plus Conan has a lot of independent bands and quirky guests. His show seems more receptive of non-Hollywood types. Leno is in Hollywood and sticks to the Hollywood California types and top 40 pop artists.
