"Terrorists who want to overthrow the United States government must now register with South Carolina's Secretary of State and declare their intentions -- or face a $25,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison."

"Terrorists who want to overthrow the United States government Since when did wanting to overthrow the US government be considered terrorism? I don't recall any of the 9/11 hijackers wanting to stage a coup, does anyone else?

Spreading terror and staging a coup (or simply abolishing tyrannical government) are NOT one in the same.

The state's "Subversive Activities Registration Act (http://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t23c029.htm)," passed last year and now officially on the books (http://www.nowpublic.com/world/south-carolina-terrorist-registration-law-paperwork-al-queda-2569751.html), states that "every member of a subversive organization, or an organization subject to foreign control, every foreign agent and every person who advocates, teaches, advises or practices the duty, necessity or propriety of controlling, conducting, seizing or overthrowing the government of the United States ... shall register with the Secretary of State."There's even a $5 filing fee. This is almost humorous, except that it isn't!

Do they not realize that the Declaration of Independence says it's our right, and in fact practically our responsibility to overthrow tyrannical governments?

"whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends [securing rights], it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government"

and furthermore

"when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

So does this mean that every one who discusses the DoI (including history teachers) must register?

OMG, that was the funniest thing I ever saw. That's almost as funny as boarding a plane and you're asked if you're carrying a bomb.... lolol...

I'm curious though... does this include government terrorists?

OMG,

I hope the forum pays the 5 buck fee. This is beyond belief. This confirms we are on the down hill run. Did the jock strap bomber register? Did the alleged 9/11 people register. Would they register? Total idiots running this country. Ask me nice for my 5 bucks. Wait, I don't live there. Suck rice.

I saw another site forum tonight bashing, and I almost puked with their reasoning.

Sorry, my bad. I meant the DoI. My brain was moving faster than my fingers. ;):p

I'm so used to typing "US Constitution" instead of "DoI" that I slipped by hbit.

Looks like the Federal Government is going to have to print up $5.

Please don't say DoI. It sounds like a government department. Like Department of Injustice or something. :D:D
