Craig Mundie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Mundie), Microsoft's Chief Research and Strategy Officer, called for the creation of an 'Internet Driver's License' (http://www.interesting-people.org/archives/interesting-people/201002/msg00010.html) at the World Economic Forum in Davos, saying, 'If you want to drive a car you have to have a license to say that you are capable of driving a car, the car has to pass a test to say it is fit to drive and you have to have insurance.'

Absolutely not, the internet works because it's unregulated and free. I will never support Microsoft again if they keep this up. Pieces of garbage

Sooooooooo...

...

...

... is the hidden statement here that Microsoft was always so shitty because now we're meant to need insurance for it? That actually makes some sick kind of sense.

"Excuse me. Before we can let you on the internet with that dangerous piece of machinery (Windows box), we need to make sure you have coverage in case you damage others inadvertantly, or in case you yourself are damaged and cannot find the culprit. Do you have internet insurance? Okay, good. Now, do you have your e-license? It should declare your e-peen size (or if you are female your e-dress size) and the picture of a slightly obscure, but undeniably attractive and photoshopped person who may or may not be representative of your age, gender, height, weight, skin color, profession, sexual orientation, religion, or whatever else... this is the internet, after all. Mmmhmm.

"You look a little intoxicated. May I ask you to please type a complete sentence? Of course, you know that was a complete question, and you passed with flying colors by responding with 'wtf omg r u kidding no U type a sentince u e-pig fuk!!!11' Okay, well, everything seems to be in order then sir/ma'am/other. You have a fun frolic there in cyberspace."

The question is.. why do you support them now?

Because they do nothing to me. They want to sell me products.. What kind of question is this? They are not a political group they produce software and hardware.

Not everything is some conspiracy.

Time magazine already coming out leaning in favor of it.

Driver's licenses for the Internet

So this should have been of no surprise.

Of course they are. They would like to see free speech limited.

Maybe Microsoft's products need hazard warning signs.

Exactly lets start legislating against them, I can think of all kinds of ways I could "monitor" them. That what this amounts too, is government monitoring of activities.

Because their product is overpriced and lower quality than free products.

It doesn't matter what Mozilla is for; Mozilla doesn't SELL its software. You aren't supporting net neutrality by using it's software.

No, Just dump Micro$oft.
This is not a new idea. It has been floated before. I read about this idea several years ago when I was trying to secure windose.
Their shitty OS is the reason for the huge growth of "security" and AV providers. If they ever really fixed their system it would put these vultures out of business.

I have not used an AV program on my computer since 2004. I do not pay for something I don't need.

Then they'd have people bitching about too many password prompts.
