I guess Republicans look more serious in their photos and the Dems smile a lot more. Probably shorter hair on Republicans and wearing dark suits vs more casual attire by Dems. They really don't go into what traits people were picking up on.

But consider the last election. Obama projected confidence and looked up alot. McCain tended to look down and seemed to scowl more. Without knowing their politics, which one would you want to be your leader? Reagan? Big smiler. Ditto on Clinton. Gore too serious against party guy Bush. Carter smiled a lot in his first campaign but had so many problems in his second run, he stopped smiling. Lost big time. Bush Jr just scared the crap out of people during his re-election campaign with the repeated terror alerts issued (which stopped after the election was over- hmmm). Friendly and confident goes a long way to helping you get elected. Maybe Ron needs to ease up a bit.
