Hey guys, thought I'd throw this up just to see where we all fit in, in this movement.

This quiz is VERY accurate.

http://www.gotoquiz.com/politics/political-spectrum-quiz.html

I am curious how close we are as a movement so please I would like this to stay in the General Politics to see where our differences lay and to address them, and just for curiosity sake (It'll get more hits here).

Thanks

The opposite of non-interventionism is not neo-conservatism. it would just be interventionism. Neo-conservatism is more about America's place in the world, how important Israel is to American interests, and a few other things. There are plenty of interventionists who could not be classified as Neo-cons. (I understand the term is used colloquially, but for something like this it should not be used interchangeably).

I don't like the quiz that much:

"45. When one group is slaughtering another group somewhere in the world, we have a responsibility to intervene."

Who is "we"? The government or individuals? That changes my answer. I assumed it was the government, so I answered no.

First, how do I get the pics to show?

I think the test wasn't specific enough on some stuff, and made a lot of assumptions about politics that make it slightly biased. These types of quizzes rarely do well to place someone politically, especially for people who reflect philosophically on the ethical issues. I know quite a few I could have both agreed and disagreed on the question depending on the meaning of the words or a coupling of two statements that don't have to both be true or false. Anyway, here are my results:
<b>My Political Views</b><br>I am a far-right social moderate<br>Right: 9.22, Authoritarian: 0.31<br><img src="http://www.gotoquiz.com/politics/grid/38x19.gif"><br><a href="http://www.gotoquiz.com/politics/political-spectrum-quiz.html">Political Spectrum Quiz</a><br>

I think the reason it scored me like this on there is because I said war was an acceptable option, though last resort, and I also only "disagreed" with a low priority that military spending should be cut.

<b>My Foreign Policy Views</b><br>Score: -2.29<br><img src="http://www.gotoquiz.com/politics/grid/n39.gif"><br><a href="http://www.gotoquiz.com/politics/political-spectrum-quiz.html">Political Spectrum Quiz</a><br>

My score on this one is confusing because the quiz continuously confuses the term "government" and "state" for the same thing, and I didn't and answered how I would regularly.

I have never understood how can you have a anarchist central planned economy. If it is anarchist there is no central authority. But anyways, I also dont see myself as far right.

I could see a centrally planned economy arising in an anarcho-communist society, but that's about it.

When you take into consideration that anarchy means to be without a ruler, it is possible to see that such a situation is impossible because even if there is no organized state apparatus as exists today, there still are rulers who could centrally plan, even in an anarcho-capitalist or agorist society.

Why am I on the "right" on the grid when my results were socially liberal?

And there were too many "we"s in the quiz, and other meaningless questions like "should marriage be heralded", when I think that yes, it should be, but not by the state. Stable reproductive units are valuable in leaving successful progeny - but I don't really care how anyone outside my own family goes about doing this.

Centrally planned means completely topdown. One decides, the rest obey. Having a society wihtout central planning does not mean that there is no planning. In fact there is better planning. But anyways, I am highjacking the thread.

When it asks questions like "We should do so and so" what is "We"? Is "we" the state? If so, I reject the so called accuracy of this political quiz. We are not the state; it exists outside of us.

If "we" is meant more generally as in what I think the individuals that make up the collective "we" ought to do I reject the idea that individuals who feel a moral urgency to fight evil both at home and abroad are more authoritarian than those that do nothing to fight evil in all its forms.

Several questions are hard to answer because of that. I went neutral on a couple because depending on context I could go either way.

Many of my selections we're "not important", I did select "very important" on questions regarding government intervention, and "neutral" on a few.

The wording of most of those questions is fairly poor. I found myself saying "Well, but what if...." quite a lot. I don't like being pigeonholed to a single scenario. Like the "retirement stock market" question. Is that opposed to giving all retirement money to the gov't for "safe keeping"? I don't want that either!

Some of the questions are ambiguous. Like gay marriage I agree gay couples should get equal rights but I disagree that they should be able to use the state to try and force an official redefinition of marriage to be inclusive to gays. I think it should be dropped from government altogether. The institution of marriage belongs to the people not the state.

And the one about the nations retiremnt accounts....does that mean state run SS? because I oppose that

My stance on all marriage is just that. If you took the state out of it this problem of gay marriage would be a non issue because there would not be an advantage to it.

Did I win? lol.

I don't like some of the questions like abortion for example. I'm personally pro-life, but I'm also against the state being involved. Same with gay marriage, but that's more "I don't really care what people do in that regard, but I don't want the state involved". Stuff like that I tended to put neutral. I don't consider myself socially liberal or socially conservative personally. I'm more moderate in that regard because I really just don't care, but I don't want the state involved. All these quizzes have some flaws in that regard. They focus more on your personal view than what you believe the role of government is. The Political Compass test does this a bit and I find it annoying.
