Last Chance to Block Bernanke's Nomination as Fed Chairman!

It's your last chance to register your opposition to Bernanke's nomination as Fed chairman. The Senate will have a procedural vote regarding Bernanke's nomination tomorrow (http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/86429.aspx) which will require 60 votes in order to clear the way for a final simple majority vote on his confirmation (click here (http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/86430.aspx) to see how your senator intends to vote). The final vote could also occur as soon as tomorrow.

Contact your senators and let them know they should oppose the reappointment of Ben Bernanke as Chairman of the Federal Reserve.

Senator Feinstein Statement on Reconfirmation of Ben Bernanke

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today issued the following statement about the pending reconfirmation of Ben Bernanke:

"I believe it would be a mistake not to reconfirm Ben Bernanke as Chairman of the Federal Reserve. To blame one man for the financial implosion is simply wrong. It is up to the government to change the law, and I believe the Volcker Rules - all of them - should be moved through Congress promptly.
Prudent regulation of the financial sector, combined with expanded authority for the Fed, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Securities Exchange Commission, is vital.
Ben Bernanke has been helpful to the recovery and, for reasons of stability and continuity, should be reconfirmed. I support him fully."

Boxer Statement on the Nomination of Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) made the following statement today expressing her opposition to a second term for Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke:
“I have a lot of respect for Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke. When the financial crisis hit in late 2008, he took some important steps to prevent what many economists believe could have been an even greater economic catastrophe.
“However, it is time for a change – it is time for Main Street to have a champion at the Fed. Dr. Bernanke played a lead role in crafting the Bush administration’s economic policies, which led to the current economic crisis. Our next Federal Reserve Chairman must represent a clean break from the failed policies of the past.”

Good job FrankRep. Just did as you asked. We have come this far, and it is not time to cave in now.

P.S. Also passed your request on to other interested parties.

Called Corker and Alexander. Both D.C. lines were busy. Talked to a real person for Corker. Got an answering machine for Alexander which said "We are probably assisting other customers". We are lighting the place up!

Jim Demint has put is putting a hold on the nomination until the audit the fed bill goes up for a vote. Winning this vote is our current best chance at stopping the fed.
