Dems Ask: Is Ron Paul Running The GOP Now?
John Carney | Jan. 27, 2010, 9:26 AM | 657 | 19

When it comes to declared votes for or against the confirmation of Ben Bernanke, the Republican caucus in the Senate is currently mostly opposed. This is really pissing off the Democrats, who feel like they are being made to take the fall for confirming Bailout Ben.

A senior administration official tells POLITICO's Mike Allen:

"It's amazing that Senate [Republicans] can barely muster a majority for a Republican who was named Time's 'Man of the Year' and who served in the Bush White House, was appointed to his current job by President George W. Bush and has the full support of the US Chamber of Commerce and Main Street American business. And their main complaint is that he saved the world from what Jim Cramer has called the 'financial stone age.' Is the minority leader Ron Paul? Someone's learned the wrong lesson from the MA race and it's not President Obama."

Between Ron Paul, the Judge, & Glenn Beck hammering Bernanke and the Fed on a daily basis, the republican establishment cannot regain control of the narrative. They've lost the battle of public opinion and we're on the lead horse.

Based on Geitner's grilling, the answer to the question "Is Ron Paul Running the GOP now?" is

Well, yes!

And further, if the Dems are smart, they'll be supporting the good Doctor as well.

Bottom line - we'll NEVER get the filth out of DC and I mean filth on BOTH SIDES until WE THE PEOPLE stop screeching about the GOP or the democrats and JOIN EACH OTHER AS...

AMERICANS.

Together we actually might be able to clean the mess up.

So long as everyone stays blinded by the dem/gop partisan crap, we remain SEPARATED and so INEFFECTIVE in fighting the corruption.

And that corruption is on BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE.

If the answer is yes, the Dems will use it to try and divide the GOP - I say, go for it then.

I think on economic matters Ron Paul is very influential. Which is good, the GOP should be very happy that Ron Paul comes to work with a little R next to his name. Ron Paul is a voice of reason and wisdom, especially concerning economic matters.

So even if you hate the GoP they have backed Ron Paul on some economic ideas...they came around on the FED nicely. I think Ron Paul is very respected by GoPers and Conservatives types for his economic knowledge. Of course foreign policy is another thing altogether.

If the GoP was smart they would embrace Ron Paul on economic policies....he is a very big ace up their sleeve on this account. The economy is in shambles and Ron Paul is dead right on the causes and the possible ways to stop our woes.

"Is Ron Paul Running The GOP Now?"

That is one of the most ignorant questions that I have ever seen. Anyone who knows anything about Dr. Paul knows that this would never be the case.. Ron Paul stands for the people running their government! He seems to be the only politician left alive that knows that he is a public servant! If Dr. Paul gains any influence over the GOP it will be because it is the will of WE THE PEOPLE and no other reason... (Happening as we speak of course..)

Ron Paul running the GOP (really equals =) We the people running the GOP as it should be.....

The Senior Administration official knows full well that the non-Constitutionalist republicans can be bought off, since they're kneedeep in the D.C. swamp. Now the Ron Paul republican is an entirely different creature and a fierce obstacle to any scheme these elites attempt to unveil. More paleoconservatives and Ron Paul republicans at the very least will freeze the machinations in Washington and possibly bring the embarassing sausage making process into the light.
