Thanks, very informative vid. Too bad most in this country are too stupid to understand. The drug war is just another corrupt and controlling feature of our tyrannical government.

I think most of the country knows that the War on Drugs has gotten us nowhere at a high price. With people like Stossel bringing it into the spotlight, we might be able to make it a discussed issue again. It will be very hard to overturn, though, because of all the money in it.

It's hard sometimes to understand why people can't understand that you have to fix the actual issue, not just try to put bandaids on it.

It's so much the same with so many other "wars".

The War on Terror. You can't fix it by bombing more people and creating more people in unstable regions whom hate America. Ron Paul has spoken about this constantly.

Likewise a less spoken about opinion on Illegal Immigration. We can't fight it by creating a police state of paranoia to round up and deport illegals, it's unfeasible. Rather we need to go to the real problem. Create a true free market where it would absorb these workers, where they wouldn't get all the benefits they get now and immigrants would come here for the economic opportunities from hard work, not a welfare state.

You were right to qualify your next-to-last statement with your last statement; I think that show is a pretty old one. Not only is there too much money in the drug war, but there are too many self-righteous idiots who still believe that the drug war is good and drugs are bad. Many of those idiots are right here on this forum, even ones who are fond of advocating marijuana legalization. But you can spot them for sure when they argue against full drug legalization, using all sorts of tortured logic. (Let’s see if any will jump on my bait [I love hunting rats].)

That video made me furious. Stossel did a good job, I just find it wrong that our government is going into another country and destroying their crops. And It's just unbelievable that so many people are still so stupid.

I really enjoy discussing the war on the drugs with people. A lot of good meaning people have preconceived notions of the drug war because they have been brainwashed by DARE, State Education, and the Major Media outlets.

People always go, "don't you realize how much meth hurts people, how could you want to make it legal?". A good way to point out this flawed argument pretty quickly to people is to say people will use no matter what, meth addicts/heroine addicts will always use regardless of legality. When I talk about this issue, I find it counter-productive to talk about a person's Constitutional Right to use drugs(or more properly worded the Federal Government's lack of authority to prosecute drug use). I always point out the fact that the Drug War creates an underground market for gangs and drug cartels which fuels crime and violence. Most rational people I come across accept this premise and while they disapprove of the use of drugs they hate the cartels and the crime that results from it. The fact is, the supposed "crime fighters" that support the drug war perpetuate crime. I think more people everyday are realizing this fact and more are opposing the drug war everyday. Soon, an actual majority will support legalizing marijuana recreationally. This is one issue I am hopeful about. Ending the drug war will result in the end of drug cartels and a rapid decrease in gang violence. It will result in a huge hemp and marijuana market being created which will create tens of thousands of jobs. It will break the monopoly the Drug Companies have on treatments and result in lower prices. Most importantly though, freedom will be restored. We will have the right to our property and our body. We will finally have the privacy we don't have now in our homes, we will no longer live in fear of smoking a plant.
