I think now adays it would be the 56th state or so when you factor in the UK, Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, and Japan.

Heh, if we have so many unofficial states, what's the point in having official states in the first place?

Maybe we should draw up our own arbitrary map of states - mesh Vermont, Mass, Connecticut, Maine, NH, RI, and New York.
