No, WE owe as a result of THEIR irresponsibility. Finally, THEIR irresponsible actions are a result of OUR irresponsibility in enforcing accountable government.

No, WE owe it. However, the FORMS of payment can vary. ;)

We'd get a better deal if we melted down the pennies and paid in copper.

I'd like to just erect a fence around Washington, D.C. and hand the whole thing over...after extracting a few worthwhile historical documents. That should settle the matter. ;)

Sadly, it wouldn't. Actually, it wouldn't settle much of anything. The land itself is swampy and not good for much. The overuse of the geographic area is unsettling, and I'm guessing we probably wouldn't clean it up before we leave.

After they monetize the debt, the money won't be worth anything either, so it all works out. Plus, the politicians, bureaucrats, and lobbyists inside have to be worth something on the black market... ;)

How many real and implicit Federal Reserve Notes are there?

Who owns these debts (i.e. who needs to be paid)?

What is the payment plan?

With unfunded liabilities its well in excess of $100 trillion.
