From a Trey Grayson campaign e-mail I just recieved:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for the outpouring of support you showed last Thursday when I officially filed paperwork to become a candidate for U.S. Senate in Kentucky.

I introduced a list of common sense conservative reforms I will work to enact if elected, and around 5,000 Kentuckians participated in our kick-off announcement through house parties in 95 counties around the state and in a simultaneous live video/telephone townhall meeting that evening moderated by Lexington media personality Dave Baker.

The media coverage was overwhelmingly positive and provided a boost to our campaign’s efforts. Look for some major endorsements this week as our campaign continues to gain momentum.

Our campaign is off to a great start in 2010, and we need your help leading up to the May 18th Republican primary. Please sign up today to volunteer. Your financial contribution will help give us the resources we need to win.

Thank you again for all that you do.

Sincerely,

May be Lindsey Graham or Tom Coburn. They are both known for endorsing Liberal-Republicans:

As you can see in that link, both have endorses Carly over Chuck DeVore. I fail to see why they wouldn't do the same to Rand Paul.

My guesses:

1. Mitch McConnell
2. NRSC
3. Some pro-life group you've never heard of
4. Some random Kentucky state legislator(s)

Something tells me it won't be very "major", but we'll see.

My dog left what appears to be an endorsement of Trey Grayson on my dining room carpet.

"around 5,000 Kentuckians" I call bullshit on that number. That's probably the total number of online watchers, which was mostly us.

Mitt Romney?

Oh wow, come to think of it, that could very well be it. Grayson was a big Romney supporter during the 2008 primaries:

Add to that the fact that Rand Paul blew off wanting Romney to support him when asked:

Establishment endorsements of TG can be turned to help Rand...

http://thehill.com/opinion/op-ed/77117-the-underdog

"My own theory is that an endorsement from Cliff Claven is better in most areas than one from an elitist snob like Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.). Watching Kerry, who recently bought a multi-million-dollar yacht, make fun of Scott Brown’s pickup truck further reminded me who the party of the rich really has become."

Yes, I know that article is about dems vs repubs, but that doesn't mean that any "big name" endorsements TG gets can't be turned into indicators of his insider status.

Yes these elections are coming down to establishment vs outsider. And outsiders are going to win this time around.
