Even though Obama hasn't done jack shit except escalate the wars in the middle east, these people will always think their lives have changed because when you are in a better mood, you perform better at your job, etc.

It's psychological. When the person you like is in the Whitehouse, you will defend that person no matter what. If he started throwing people in concentration camps you'd still have a small number defending his actions. Just like how code pink defends afghanistan now.
