TXA 21 political analyst John Weekley pointed to some key moments in Thursday night's Republican candidates debate, a great deal of them were centered on Debra Medina.

Weekley says she handled herself well and was refreshing in her approach with a command of the facts.

Weekley said Senator Hutchison didn't do herself any favors on the way she answered the question on her voting not to overturn Roe vs Wade. Weekley pointed out that Governor Perry got stuck on trying to convince voters that he added nearly 100,000 jobs between November of 2007 to November of 2008, without admitting that Texas lost more jobs in the same time period.

Weekley points out the Perry has been a great governor. Texas is now home to more Fortune 500 companies than any other state. But, Weekley adds that Hutchison knows Texas, and in the debate, she did a great job in attacking Perry's record, without attacking Perry.

He also praised her "artful" use of Medina, something he called a "bank-shot" in one of her candidate to candidate questions. In that question Hutchison asked Medina about her experience in Texas with property rights. And Medina took the ball and ran with it attacking Governor Perry for what she deemed abuse of government power.

John Weekly did not want to call a winner. He says the goal of a political debate is not to lose. And he said nobody lost. But Medina might have just slipped in and won!

How stupid is Hutchinson to ask an RPer a property rights question? LOL.

Didn't watch any of it but based on the analysis she's not stupid at all. It was clearly an underhanded way to slap Perry around without getting her hands dirty. The article prefaces this part with "Hutchison knows Texas" which gives me the impression that ya'll are much more civilized down there than us folks in the north ;) Now I'm reading between the lines but it seems that may have backfired on Hutchison because Medina came out swinging and I think people everywhere are ready to hear the truth.

Medina is being shut out of the next debate. We need to strategize! We can't let them do this.

If Debra makes it in, I think she really needs to attack these guys as the 'status quo'. Call them out for being 'career politicians' and paint herself as what a true politician should be, of by and for the people.. play this angle and it'll resound.

After her first performance, there's no way they can keep Media out of the next debate.

If they do it will backfire, big time.

Count on it.
