Next, Stossel should take a close look at the relationship between Obama and Goldman Sachs. With government money being funneled into financial companies at an alarming rate, the impact on the world economy is monumental. An article out of London explains how bankers destroy economic value by a factor of 7 to 1: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/banksandfinance/6804910/Hospital-cleaners-worth-more-to-society-than-bankers.html

Top contributors to Obama:

1. University of California $1,591,395
2. Goldman Sachs $994,795
3. Harvard University $854,747
4. Microsoft Corp $833,617
5. Google Inc $803,436
6. Citigroup Inc $701,290
7. JPMorgan Chase & Co $695,132

Looks like John is getting all the wrinkles ironed out of his new show. That was his best yet. Less cheesy audience participation and more scripted pre-taped reporting/ narration by Stossel a la his 20/20 work.

Yeah, I actually went through Obama's top contributors and added up how much banks have donated to him.

$5.9 million.

"John Stossel is a paranoid, insane, lying hypocrite." (http://stossel.blogs.foxbusiness.com/2010/01/15/%e2%80%9cjohn-stossel-is-a-paranoid-insane-lying-hypocrite/)

“Crony Capitalism” re-airs tonight at 10pm EST, so if you missed it you can see what got some people so mad.

I discussed the many examples where Big Business has used the clout of Big Government to get special privileges or protect themselves from competition.

My first example (http://stossel.blogs.foxbusiness.com/2010/01/14/a-little-company-praised-by-president-obama/) was a little window company, Serious Materials, who got an unusual amount of presidential praise and special favors – including a recent ‘green’ tax credit.

Not everyone was happy to see this story.
Mary Madigan: "I watch your show, but frankly I think this story is pathetic. John, you are getting too close to […] Sensational Journalism. I’m seeing a story where there is no real story."
Michael: "This is lazy, sound bite journalism of the worst kind. If there is story there, go find the FACTS, and tell us!"

Fortunately, most people liked the show:
Liberty Lover: "John, Great show, just like the other ones. Keep up the good work. I like how you maintain your political independence: criticize lawmakers of both parties when they commit such stupidity…"
Capt. Karl: "Mr. Stossel, GREAT JOB on this vital subject matter tonight! Thank you"

Some viewers suggested alternative titles for the topic – “mercantilism,” “socialism,” and “corporatism”. My wife wanted me to call it the “un-free market.” None of those seemed as clear to me as crony capitalism, so I choose that.

The show will also re-air Saturday at 7pm EST, and Sunday at 11pm.

lol I love Stossel.
