Dear Northeast Ohioan,

Do you have a great idea on how your local government can partner with another to save money on a program or project?

Recently, the Fund for Our Economic Future (http://www.futurefundneo.org/) launched the second round of EfficientGovNow (http://www.efficientgovnow.org/), a program that encourages and accelerates government cooperation and efficiency. In short, the program offers philanthropic funds ($330,000!) to advance local government collaboration projects as selected by the residents of Northeast Ohio.

The Fund has issued a request for proposals (RFP) to all local government officials in Northeast Ohio. The RFP seeks local government officials’ ideas for collaboration and efficiency projects that:
- Lower government costs and/or strengthen economic competitiveness
- Demonstrate how savings will be used to strengthen economic competitiveness and/or existing funds repurposed for economic development initiatives
- Demonstrate the potential to be replicated throughout the region

A lot of great ideas have been generated so far, including these past ideas (http://www.mmsend1.com/ls.cfm?r=239654394&sid=8361745&m=905049&u=LandauPR&s=http://blog.efficientgovnow.org/?p=62) from round one of EfficientGovNow. Now, we’re seeking bold ideas for the second round (http://www.mmsend1.com/ls.cfm?r=239654394&sid=8361746&m=905049&u=LandauPR&s=http://www.efficientgovnow.org/About/Newsroom/PressReleases/2010/1/newsrelease010510.html)and we want to hear from you.

TELL US YOUR IDEAS on how a local government can collaborate with another local government (or more) to reduce inefficiencies. For example, maybe you’ve thought about ways your local government could partner with another to work jointly on a program or project, thus freeing up dollars for opportunities such as fostering business creation or providing college scholarships.

Comment (http://www.mmsend1.com/ls.cfm?r=239654394&sid=8361747&m=905049&u=LandauPR&s=http://blog.efficientgovnow.org/?p=329)on this blog post (http://blog.efficientgovnow.org/?p=329) with your idea(s) or send us an e-mail. We’ll take some of the best ideas and post them online, share them with the media or send them straight to your elected official. You never know… you may get to see your idea become a reality.

Plus, check out these ten easy ways (http://www.mmsend1.com/ls.cfm?r=239654394&sid=8361749&m=905049&u=LandauPR&s=http://blog.efficientgovnow.org/?p=329) to spur the second round of EfficientGovNow, including following us on Twitter (http://www.mmsend1.com/ls.cfm?r=239654394&sid=8361750&m=905049&u=LandauPR&s=http://www.twitter.com/efficientgovnow) or Facebook (http://www.mmsend1.com/ls.cfm?r=239654394&sid=8361751&m=905049&u=LandauPR&s=http://www.facebook.com/efficientgovnow).

Many thanks,

Privatize water.

Privatize garbage.
Privatize sewage.
Privatize the Fire Department.

Turn all public schools into private schools with the teachers and administration getting equal shares of the new private institution. During a transition time, fund the tuition for families in the exact same amount you're currently paying in education, with a phasing out voucher system. While working with local charities to set up a structure to fund lower income children in the future.
